spite ( P ) Pronunciation Key (spt)
n.
Malicious ill will prompting an urge to hurt or humiliate.
An instance of malicious feeling.

Now for my question. Why do people spite? Why are they spiteful? What makes them think that by hurting a certain person, they'll get what they want? Is one's esteem so smallt hat they must big themselves up by hurting a so-called friend of theirs? How can they consider themselves a friend if they do such a thing?

I would give an example, but it too closely ties in to a scenario that happened to someone really close to me; besides, they probably wouldn't want me to say so ('tis their call).

Seriously though, no intention to offend, but if you feel the need to use spite in any way shape or form, be it verbally, e-lectronically, visually, or literally, you are making yourself to be one of the lowest persons on this planet. I'm sure than anyone who has suffered/been on the receiving end of spite would strongly believe this point.

Now, i cannot do anything to this unmentioned person because i don't know anything about them short of they hurting this very close person to me; however, i've heard the details and they are sickening. Quite sickening. It makes me wonder how a human being (or furry, respectively) could possibly think up such malice to an individual, just because they had denied you of something so trivial at the time. It just... boggles my mind.

God, some people.... honestly, folks. If you want to remain the sweet, caring humans (and furs) i know you to be, be wary of spite; for it can be your, or the person it is directed to's downfall.

Core Belote Says:

Spite is an evil thing that I've been on the receiving end of a lot, often for doing nothing but being myself. Don't know the situation, but I do know that everone needs to do less spiteing and do more caring for each other. Then when this happens the world will be a better place for all.

NightFox Says:

You have to realize that over the interent things and events turn into drama really quickly. >_>; People are not the same as they are in real life really. Some act totally different altogether. :/

Robat Says:

Is that pronounced [spaɪt], [spɪt] or [spt] in IPA?

Fox Tail Says:

it's not really my place to say, but i feel your pain...i get the brunt of all peoples extra agression, because af the way i dress and the...weel my taste in things. in time youll learn to be so numb that wont affect you annymore. most of the time i find its other peoples way of compensating for their own faults by lashing out at outhers to make their problims feel smaller.

Hiroshi Jirokoshi Says:

spite is totally stupid in my opinion, no use for it, in my view if somebody dosn't like a peice of art, tv program or just what somebody says, either ignore it, or tell them politely what they feel is wrong with it rather then hacking away at the person(s) in question, 'tis a shame not everybody can be like that tho', so I find it's best to persivier & simply cope with it in knowlege that other people like what ya do

Zehuty Says:

I agree with you spite is nothing more then a person's way of trying to get what they want through critisim or mean remarks. The person who does these things has nothing better to do and is somone who is purley jelouse of your friend.

neobubblemonkee Says:

people are stupid. thats why.

Banshou Says:

Humans are controlled by their emotions....
Emotions demand that we take revenge for what hurts us, and in their strongest forms will cloud our judgement....
We become selfish vengeful individuals seeking only a way to slake what our emotions demand in order quell whatever anger started it....
There are those, however, who ignore their emotions, and isolate themselves to think before acting....

These are the basic reasons of initial spite for others....
I do not know what occured in the incident that you speak of, so I cannot give you advice, nor can I tell if it is longdrawn spite in which different circumstances would most likly apply....

Sorry for any redundences in the above; I'm not too good at writing things....
I hope you feel better soon, because I have gone through depression myself, and it almost became life threatening once....
