I need various opinions on this. What is the best way to suck up to one's parents?
The Situation
There is this concert. In about three weeks. That I REALLY REALLY want to go and see. And that sounds childish and whatnot, but tis true. Anyhoo, my mom is totally okay with letting me go. In fact, she said, and I quote "If it were solely up to me, I'd definitely let you go." The problem is my dad.
He seems to have this "idea" that because I am a teenager, I do 'bad' things. IE He actually asked my mom to come and spy on me to see that I was actually where I said I would be. He does not trust me at all. Anytime I bring up this concert, I get the "I never did that when I was a kid, you're a horrible disrespectful teenager, I do not care what other kids do etc."
He can't seem to see past the stereotypical teenager image. I AM A GOOD KID! I do well in school, I'm straight edge, and I work part time. It's not like I go out and get drunk every weekend, or skip school. (Except for physed, but that doesn't count.)
The Solution
This my friends, is where all of you come in. What is the best way to convince my dad that going to ONE concert will not (further) corrupt me? Try talking to him reasonably, and I get yelled at. Try getting my mom to talk to him, and she yells at me. I'm thinking, if all else fails, to use the guilt trip. The "You are taking me away from all that I love this summer, I deserve this!" As this band is coming back for Warped, which I WOULD be going to, were I not being dragged to the other, more useless side of the universe.
Any help is appreciated. I you all.

Above all don't use the guilt trip, they tend to see right through that. I found what always worked best with my parents was convincing them that they really, really want me to do what I want to. You just have to convince them that somehow, your going to the concert is going to be a good thing for them. For example maybe it'll give them a night to themselves or something like that. It's different with every family. But anyways, I hope this helps somehow. Good Luck!
