I've been drawing over Spring Break (I'll be able to scan and upload after the weekend), and a problem has come to my attention. I always try to draw like other artists... first, it was Dave Manak, then it was Spaz/Harvo, and now it is Fred Perry (and sometimes Koshi Rikdo/any other manga artist). But other artists are able to develop their own, unique style. I've tried, but I don't know how to draw in my "own" style. I'm begining to think I don't even HAVE one. Or do all artists attempt to draw like the artists that inspire them, or who they look up to? I'd love to get some feedback on this...
Zera Says:
I thought your Anthro Bowser was rather a unique style.
But anyway, getting YOUR style takes years of practice. Start experimenting with the different parts of the body. Tweak the eyes up this way, or droop the nose down a bit that way... After awhile, you'll have your style.
AngelmanDX Says:
Yeah Zera's right I stopped using my Krefta How to draw book when I saw how it was masking my style. Starnik Tweaking is fun and it helps you realize what your strong points are. I hope you can tweak and find something that feels like you.
(And Also I too love Koshi Rikdo My sig is from the dvd box set the menu)
