I live in north carolina in which our "amendment one" passed

amendment one is an amendment saying that the NC government will not recognize ANY unions unless the couple is a married man and woman.

this also excludes people whom are straight and just can't afford a marriage license who used to be recognized by the government.

The arguments from people for it that i have read:
1: Homosexuality is bad because the bible says so
2: homosexuals would be harmful to children and force them to suffer in school
3: Homos are bad

Arguments from people who are against it:
1: It is unfair for the government to say whom we can and cannot love and to prevent us from the benefits that married couples get because we are too poor to purchase those rights through a more powerful union
2: It is proven that in schools that kids raised in a homosexual environment actually do very slightly better in grades than those in heterosexual families.
3: This doesn't just effect homosexuals, but heterosexuals as well
4: If we put this amendment through, it would be taught in our schools and that would create even more stress and strain because children who live in homosexual environments or claim to be homosexual themselves would become the victims of bullies whom justify their actions by saying "well its illegal so we can do this since you're not legal"

there are a few more arguments from the against side that i can't recall right as of this moment

honestly guys, i may seem biased on this issue but on the news they were doing interviews on the people whom voted for and against it and one of the guys who voted for it literally said
"my family don't believe homosexuals are natural and that's what i believe ad that is why i supported and voted for this amendment"

i fucking hate the "christians" in the rural areas because they are uneducated brainwashed individuals whom won't listen to all the reason why this amendment is bad

and i say "christians" because these are the people to claim they love the bible and follow it by heart but yet still have sex without marriage, use contraception, do drugs, steal, and many more things of that nature.

i respect their choices but i still find them complete ignorant morons whom are closed minded and cannot listen to others arguments.

TL;DR
A shitty amendment got voted for and is now onto the next step
urg i am so upset!!!!! >:C

Personally I'm not bisexual, homosexual, etc. but I have a few homosexual and bisexual friends and I think they should have every right to be with the person they want to be with. Who is the world to judge them. They are still the same people they are. We are all humans. We all share the same planet. And if they are happy, who's right is it to take that away? No one, no one can take away happiness. And if the world doesn't like it, then that's their problem and they should learn to ignore it. If they have a problem with that in schools, then perhaps they can learn to teach it in schools. They can teach us about constructing atoms, or how the mayans came to be, or how gravity impacts the earth, and in some places they are allowed to teach evolution. I'm pretty sure they can teach a little bit about homosexuality without getting too graphic.

Vaelarsa Says:

Yeah, it's pretty fucking stupid.

I really think the religious bias in lawmaking just needs to GTFO. We are not in a position to need this in the modern world. People can believe whatever they want, but when it comes to forcing their religious beliefs on another, or harming another, there really needs to be laws preventing this kind of shit, NOT encouraging it.

This is getting really old, at this point, and it needs to disappear. Denying homosexuals the rights of marriage is as outdated and moronic as denying people of different races or the nonreligious to marry.

Stay classy, NC.
