Roy Disney passed away today at the age of 79 after a year long battle with stomach cancer. He was the son of Walt Disney's brother Roy Disney and a champion of classic 2-D animation. It was Roy who led a revolt against Michael Eisner resulting in Eisner's eventual resignation and the reinstatement of the 2-D animation studio at Disney. He is why 2-D movies like "The Princess and the Frog" are coming back.

At least he lived long enough to see some hope return to his uncle's studio. Rest in peace, Roy. We owe you one.
