The myth that teleportation would destroy your original body and create a new you elsewhere.
The only way this would be true is if the teleportation device actually did that, in which case it would NOT be a teleportation device. A true teleportation device would not destroy the original, but would transfer your body intact from one vector in space to another. Obviously nobody knows if that is possible or not yet(except under theoretical physics!), but claiming that it is not possible is an unbacked claim.
The myth stems from thinking that teleportation would work by sending a signal to an adjacent machine that would receive data about every one of your bodies' atoms and create an exact replica of you. This would be a replicator, not a teleporter.
Just remember this next time you tell somebody that teleportation could never work, you heathen!
CardboardtubeNinja Says:
Yeah, that totally pisses me off too.
Ever feel as if you're surrounded by ingrates and igneramii?
Stormy McDanger Says:
Huh. This is a weird thing to get mad about.
Tony B Says:
Lol, "Theoretical" Physics. What a misleading name...
giascle Says:
um hello have you not seen the prestige???
Triple Q Says:
Primer.
