You might be wondering what the hell my journal title is about.
You might also be wondering as to what exactly would take the two qualities above to piss me off.
Well, you'd be wrong in thinking that it's Tom Preston. I mean, if that was your first guess then you can give yourself a pat on the back for at least being on the right track.
No, my dear friends, I talk about the whimsical nature of people on this site that create accounts of characters and people that currently exist and act like them on a site such as Sheezyart.
I would like to begin my 5000 word essay by saying a few things:
In the start it was fun.
In the middle it was becoming a nuisance.
At this moment in time, it is a travesty.
Roleplayers and roleplay accounts on Sheezyart are nothing new and have been here for a number of years without much cause for alarm or even a public outcry of their demise. I remember the charismatic Prof. Oak, who was an asshole for no reason and was completely out of character for the sole reason of being a completely different creation than originally planned. In other words, Professor Oak was the first anti-roleplay. Professor Oak did not roleplay for the sake of roleplaying but did so out of the sheer audacity to "troll" and "amuse". A non-serious display of malice that usually went questioned, and not without reason.
Though, as we all know, the true king and the first to roleplay was that of the Regis Mark 5.
As time passed, we grew more aware that people were creating characters to use on Sheezyart. People such as Phoenix Wright and Detective Gumshoe, once or twice commenting on each others profiles and artwork of themselves. It wasn't an intent to talk to each other or socialize, it was generally just a desire to give some amusement to those who saw Detective Gumshoe claim on a piece of artwork depicting him as a "layabout no-brainer" that he was definitely not like that at all, only to be proven wrong by Phoenix Wright as he shouted "OBJECTION" and presented evidence as to why he was a terrible Detective.
We know this to be somewhat of an acceptance of amusement. In other words, a general agreement that this could take place on our artwork and that we wouldn't have a problem with other people commenting in the character that they'd chosen, just to bring a little joy to our artwork and maybe a comment string.
But over time, things grew out of hand.
I myself registered one accout out of a general interest of the above statement to see how people would react. Maybe this could be seen as an act of copying an already functioning system in an attempt to bring the same enjoyment and surprise. But now, it is almost definitely seen as something different.
I browse over roleplay accounts and all I see are the bumbling attempts to stay inside the confines of a 2 dimensional character, in more ways than one, whilst applying their own logic to the character in an attempt to reach out and scream "Hey, I have a character too and we should talk together because I'm Frank West and I've covered wars and you're Captain America and you've been in some of the greatest wars of all time!".
If not the valiant efforts to try and stay in character, the sheer stupidity to put:
"((PS I'M ACTUALLY THIS GUY HERE tremendousfaggot.sheezyart.com JUST SO YOU KNOW))"
It's almost as if you want me to know that all of you are the same 12 to 20 people who do nothing but talk to each other all day on the roleplay accounts as an attempt to socialize and give meaning to an otherwise completely useless webpage on an art site.
There's nothing artistic about trying to be another person. There's even less artistry in completely failing to encapsulate that persona.
And there's even less artistry in doing this every single day, creating more and more useless subdirectories in a constantly fund driven site that provides unlimited server space and unlimited accounts only to be squandered by the myriad of socially unintelligent plagiarists who think that they're doing "POPULAR CHARACTER FROM POPULAR VIDEO GAME" justice.
You are not.
I wish it could be more eloquent than that but, in layman's terms, you're killing everything that the roleplay accounts stood for in the first place. It was supposed to be about surprise, about just having fun.
Now I see all of you jerking each other off on your own pages as you create an ever-growing roster of unintelligent, socially retarded, upvote-hogging, redundant alternate accounts for you to stroke your own ego.
And I thought it was bad. Well, I KNEW it was bad for a long while. It's not as if it's something new that most of you are fucking terrible at playing your shitty little games as your characters.
But I thought it wasn't going to get worse.
Then I see you start to take characters THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN TAKEN.
It's not about just having fun and giving people a little lift from "their favourite character".
It doesn't work like that when there are 3 or 4 Konata, Rockman, Megaman, Gary Oak.
And then, just as I thought it couldn't be worse than that, my own account of a popular character, sidelined for no other reason than being redundant, had another account made solely for roleplaying with the added "Z" instead of an "S".
It's not about fun.
It's about your own little narcissistic fantasy and lack of ability to create that drives you to try to be someone that you aren't. It isn't even to give back to the community. It's trying to create your own little subcommunity that caters to the people who spend all day and all night on these stupid little fetishes of being someone else in an attempt to feel good and say "fuck you, I'm (insert character)" to anyone who doesn't think that you do a good job of roleplaying as your character.
The moment Sheezyart purges any accounts that have no submissions after 6 months, 92% of all roleplay account will swiftly go.
The moment Sheezyart decides that serverspace is more important than its unsupportive userbase, all roleplay accounts will be banned to maintain a userbase of active contributers to an ART SITE.
But if neither of these things happen, we all know one constant.
All but 10 to 20 of the same people on this site are generally unimpressed with the actions of all current roleplays.
At least we knew that when they first started, they were just members of the community. Now, the people who currently roleplay, you're nobodies who personify themselves as something greater than they'll ever be to feed their own ego.
Have "fun" on a site that encourages roleplaying, not a site that encourages artistic creation because you're obviously not here for that.
I can't break a code of civility when I'm insulting Splash Woman.
I'm glad I could take at least one popular character.
It shows just how desperate you are to enact your terrible self-fantasy on a good character when you have to add a Z to the name.
I think I've already said this, but I'll say it again;
It's pathetic.
I'm tired of answering to alternate accounts with 0 pieces of art.
I'm tired of answering to an illiterate Sonic the Hedgehog.
I'm tired of immaturity.
I'm tired of "an original take on the character".
I'm tired of stupidity.
Grow up.

I agree with the majority of your points.
However, and this is from somewhat being "adopted" into part of the RP inner circle by a few of its members, I have to say this:
When I'm doing side accounts, it's mainly for two reasons: one, to bring aggressive over-the-top humor to the dullness of the site, and two, to attempt to ruin or at least subvert the insanely contrived plot devices that keeps popping up in the RP. The plot, to me, is the real villain.
That, and illiterate people who insist on godmodding while RPing.

I still like my whole IT'S FUCKING PLAGIARISM arguement

but damn I love the way you handle words
I like this journal.
It is a good journal.
::standing ovation::
Kiwi Joy Says:
Personally I don't have a problem with them, I find them quite amusing if they play the character well. Although it's annoying when someone leaves the same comment on everything they find *coughKanyeWestcough*. I do take part in RPs but on an RP site, not on an art site, I don't agree with that. I do have a 'side' account as one of the Naruto characters, simply because I was bored and wanted a gay character to humiliate. And it is amusing to see what comments I get from random people, and to think up an accurate yet stupid response. But I don't 'RP' as them, I rarely even check the account. It's not why I'm here.
