Ah, my friends...October has ended, and November has begun! It is bittersweet. October was a really great month...even if I was a little bit insane and didn't sleep a wink the last week.
Well! You remember the contest? Well, we have a winner! Actually, we have two winners! Actually, they are the only two who participated! And so they shall both receive first-place prizes, because they are folk more awesome than the average! Let us take a look...
First up is the beautiful and talented
Winterdark, who made this spooky Halloween scene in a graveyard! Winter makes an appearance, herself, as a zombie crawling forth from the ground...and I get the impression that MM has arrived to take her dancing. What a lovely thing! A great picture.
And second is the incomparable
Dellamorte Dellamore,

who again proves how entirely kickass he is with a ballpoint pen. This picture is both hilarious and frightening...just the way Halloween should be! And so...fuzzy. Ha ha! It's awesome!
So both of these wonderful individuals will receive the first-place prize of a signed copy of
Dis volume 1, and an original painting of whatever they'd like, and also any of my t-shirts. You two just email me or somethin' and let me know what I should paint, and what shirt you want, and what size, and where to mail it all off to, okay? Okay! Thank you again for participating! You're each far smarter than the average bear!
Speaking of bears...It's time for a new Shirt of the Month! Oh, my! For November, I have put something together that I'm calling "Ursus Fire Puncher". Take a look! It is available in many colors! (I've got a red one for myself.)
*Sigh* Well...Halloween sure was the best. It's my number-two favorite holiday (after Valentine's Day) but ever since I was a kid, my elaborate plans never worked out, due to a blizzard, or poor engineering of my lavish homemade costumes, or just having no one to hang out with. But
this year!
This year was different!!
Andrew and I threw a big party at his place...and people showed up! And my best friend
the Cowhat Ninja came all the way from Arizona for the weekend! (Even though she was really busy and had to keep drawing comic pages in my living room, and she was also under the weather at the time. She's so cool!) Andrew and I were working on our costumes since July, and I don't mind telling you that we ended up looking
amazing! (I'm still picking spirit gum out of my hair, part of the extreme construction working to keep my wig on my head...Totally worth it.)(We were very into character, too.

) The party lasted until 5am, and everybody had a good time! Hooray! I think the best part, for me, might have been around 3:30 or 4am, when we all decided to conclude playing
Guitar Hero and switch to
Pokémon Stadium. We played "Rebel Yell" as the last song, and I was on vocals, and uh...as a great fan of Mr. Billy Idol, I figured there was only one way to properly perform this song. Had the neighbors a-knockin' at the door right after that.
Here's a picture:
I've got more photos of our costumes
here, plus a shot of my friend
Krystal, who came as our nemesis, Ash Ketchum. (Uh...I haven't uploaded my other party photos here, 'cause I don't know if my guests would be comfortable with that. But, uh...You can see them if we're friends on the
Facebooks, eh?
More about our costumes: All the pieces were purchased separately. I modified the jackets with the helpful help of my mother's sewing machine. My wig took about two weeks to construct, once we had all the materials. It's a chickenwire structure, reinforced inside with styrofoam, and wrapped in maroon duct tape. That is sewn to a 51-inch-long burgundy-colored nylon wig (ordered from Hong Kong.) We also stitched a red knit stocking cap on the inside, to give my head a little padding from the chickenwire. Then it was styling, styling, styling, with the last touch-ups done once we had it fastened to my head...which took no less than sixty bobby pins, and a generous dollop of spirit gum. We had Pokéballs with lil' plastic Ekans and Koffing inside, and a life-sized Meowth plushie. (I also have a little plush Wobuffet that came along...but he obviously wasn't life-sized.)
It was all very uncomfortable, and I figure that's why Jessie is so stressed-out all the time! On the other hand, Andrew tells me that the James outfit is pretty much the most comfortable thing he's ever put on...

Dellamorte Dellamore Says:
Oh, wow! I won!
I already have a wonderful super-duper signed copy of DIS from a few years ago, is there any way I can... Oh, oh! I got an IDEA! I shall "Pee-Ehm" it to you!
