I wanna get this straight. I never, EVER said anything about Justin Frost being an idiot or anything! I admire his artistic talent, even if he particularly doesn't like me. I am merely amused at his dewatching. Okay?
BUT NOW I HAVE SOMETHING TO GRIPE ABOUT.
Unfortunately, now he calls me unoriginal. That hurts, Frosty. So I'm unoriginal for drawing fanart, along with original concepts that come completely out of
my mind?
I'm unoriginal, when every single day, I have constant, and impossible to stop, ideas that, if not drawn and taken from my head, will clog up my mind?

are dead wrong. Take a look through my gallery Frost, please. Yes, I like fanart! A lot of people do! But
I draw so much more than fanart.
So much more.
Just because someone draws some fanart when they aren't working on their own concepts currently, that does NOT make them unoriginal.
I wish one of you guys could give me a hug, I'm seriously angry. I need someone, one of you awesome people who know that I can come up with original ideas,
which I can.
So one more time:
Justin Frost, just you look through my gallery, and then you'll see how original I can be.

I think the term "originality" really gets abused in art communities. Just because something has been done before (thereby making it "unoriginal") doesn't always make it bad. True, it's always wonderful to come up with new thoughts, concepts, and ideas; but branching off of someone else's idea doesn't automatically make you wrong.
You're taught in art classes to study the works other great artists, and are often asked to partake in projects which mimic the master artists' genre. (Granted, you're usually not supposed to outright copy a painting or photograph, but you get the idea.)
It's easy to grow tired of certain poses, locations, subjects, ect. ect. But in the end, what's truly original is subject to individual interpretation. What's brand new and exciting to one person may be bland, outplayed, and downright cliche to someone else.
You can usually find an audience for whatever you do. If you're happy with your work (which you seem to be), and you're happy with you're fans/following (which you also seem to be), then I'd say you're doing alright. You're artwork should be about what YOU want. It's about how YOU want to grow, and what YOU want to become. It's not about what Justin wants, what I want, what your friends want, or whatever.
(That all probably sounds hypocritical coming from me, because I've gotten annoyed a few times when people have deleted my critiques, but hey. Like I said, in the end, it doesn't matter what I think. If the artist is happy, then that's that.)

I'm not a fan of "9", or of Tim Burton, but I thought that particular drawing was cute. You do a great job with expressions. :)

But really, I wouldn't want to take shit from a guy whose style looks like a combination of KiteRide and FoxinRamen and posts nothing but black and white mediocre artwork...most of them being self portraits of him and his girlfriend. Granted, his animations are decent aside from never having any backgrounds...BUT I really don't think he or anyone else has the right to call your work 'unoriginal' or even TRY to downplay you in any way seeing as you are obviously a brilliant artist and a GENIUS designer!!! If anything, I think people copy off you to make themselves look more original. XC

And yeah, I've noticed those comments, too <:c Even though I know Mikey, it kind of dissapoints even me when I see that he only complained at your fanart, and not notice how your art can be much more original than that!
What's wrong with showing appreciation for something you enjoy watching or playing? <xP Heck, I had my own (really) small fanart phase when I was interested into Chowder
And besides, you've got ALOT of original art to balance it out :3 So don't think of yourself as unoriginal, what-so-ever!

It's hard when this is between two people I know and love D:` I'm sorry that he only approached your fanart, and took it in a really negative way. He's normally a really nice guy, but I think that fanart in the fancharacter or pairings variety is just a pet peeve of his < xP

We all have drawn a concept that's been done before, or drawn fanart of something. So clearly the art world is unoriginal by this definition
