I think it's fairly obvious that, as it stands, the subscription service isn't actually worth paying for. On its own, none of the offered features are worth it at all. Especially worth it to the largely cheap and or broke population of the amateur creative world.

But that's not what this is about, subscriptions. It is about having a direct way, with some (albeit little) give-back, to support SheezyArt as a whole. To render unto the creators and stewards the resources required to maintain upkeep and even, hopefully, to move forward.

Unfortunately, thisprobably does not strike many people as "worth it", either. What with the apparent and steady exodus of users, features that are long overdue that exist elsewhere, bugs, and organizational failures that drive many people insane. How can anyone justify putting their money to what probably looks like a sinking ship?

This is actually rather profound to think about, for me. This is because even when I do agree something deserves my support, my money, I rarely go forward and give. Even when there are benefits to doing so. I agree with what most people say about the subscriptions, and what most people say about the state of affairs regarding the website.

And yet, the second these subscriptions were made available, I found myself punching the year long package.

Except, even with a bank account never associated with paypal, using a debit card that never existed when paypal previously pwnt my internet monetary travels, paypal still hates me and decided to stamp me with a big "no". Mother son of a bitch. (if anyone left still watching me from my old account would remember, the last time I tried anything with paypal [the days of the horrid first album of mine], paypal went utter bonkers to the point where not even calling their overseas helpline solved anything)

DESPITE THIS: it's still important to note the sentiment here. I joined SheezyArt in 2004. A comic artist I knew suggested the site to me back when I still thought I could draw. I told him "but, I do music too." and that most, if not all, of my artwork was fanart. He told me to stick it out and join anyway. "it's not DeviantArt" (boy do you remember that?)

Any and all notoriety I have is because of this website. Every time I ever show anyone my work online, I show them this website. I feel a very profound and ultimately confusing mix of pride and loyalty to this website. Despite its obvious and oh so very damaging flaws.

It is this seemingly crazy and unfounded mixture of logic and emotion that will cause me to find someone I can give money to in exchange for the use of their credit card so that I could pay for a year's subscription to this website. Not because I will then be able to draw people comments.

But that will be cool.

On the contrary, I believe that $24.95 or whatever a year is a tiny price to pay for hosting, being able to do all the stuff that you can actually do on Sheezyart and the fact that we've been using it for free all these years.
I could easily just use Vulomedia but then I don't get an easy browsing system to view all my files and a quick way to tab through each of them in my gallery.

Anyone who doesn't like the way things are run can just go to another site and enjoy the lack of being able to infringe copyright with shitty IDs that are only rated up due to the music or dumping 500 pictures of Edward Cullen and your "original character" and roleplaying for several thousand comments in a string with other people who you share your e-fame with.

Sheezyart is a wonderful place that you can thank for all your e-fame and I think that's well worth the money.

That or Sheezyart pretty much vanishes if the subscriptions aren't deemed as "worthy investments". I don't think CC minds. He can actually get back to taking care of his wonderful boyish charm with all the free time he'll get from not looking at comments about people bitching (:

Just remember;
You're paying so that CC can afford the dance lessons.
