The link above takes you to a page where you can view screenshots and download the demo for a Kingdom Hearts: Another Story game. It's short, sweet and apparantly quite difficult if some early play tests are to be believed :) The whole thing has a 'paper mario' look reminiscent of the KHAS Card Game I did for christmas last year, and a strongly advise anyone bored or into KHAS to give it a look! It's free after all.
Galloglasses Says:
Not a bad game, it certainly runs smoothly. However the arc of the sword swing makes it difficult to actually 'hit' enemies, especially the small ones.
Foxcat Says:
Hahaha, The Games Factory. As much as I love that program, it's obsolete; Dual-Core computers will glitch up as soon as sounds are implemented. I guess you know that for sure though.
Graphics and style are certainly consistent and fit well together. But as smooth as it is, it's awfully rigid and, personally, a little too fast (that's prolly just me. I haven't played KH or anything relevant really, so I can't tell if it's being true to the game or not).
Attacking a monster backwards (ie they're on my right and I'm facing left) is a sure-fire way to kill yourself. Perhaps using a collision box rather than having a simple collision test between the character and the monster. This way, the characters would be more balanced in terms of Hit-sizes.
On that note, no invincibility (even for half a second) after getting hurt drains what little health you've got a very quickly, especially against the uh, "running" heartless that might at random turn back into you just after bouncing off
I feel the loss of ALL of your energy when hit once is severely punishing and could make all the difference, especially in a boss battle. While this may be an incentive for people to skillfully evade/fend off opponents, it's especially harsh with such limited room.
As Galloglasses mentioned, the sword slash is a little difficult to use. If enemies get too close, it becomes useless and you have to step back (and get hurt due to her hair/sword). Small enemies near the ground have to be hit with a small portion of the slash, making it very hard to use in that regard. How about making the slash thicker?
I quite like how you can rapid-fire the sword, though it could fatigue the player after enough time.
It's a simple concept (at the moment) and isn't too bad but the design is awfully unforgiving and might deter players with its sheer difficulty. I feel that after a few tweaks, this would be an excellent game. Keep it up!
