Which of these spellings seem to match best with the pronounciation I want, while not looking stupid? Like, if you read it in a passage, you wouldn't stop and go "WTF DOES THAT SAY?" This IS a name for someone, so keep that in mind. Oh, and it's a fantasy story.
Pronounciation desired: Bay-dee-us
Baideus
Baidius
Baedeus
Baedius
Baedeeus
Baedeaus
Baideaus
Baideeus
My worry is tht the latter half have too many vowels and get confusing, but the former half sounds like a roman name. :/ Pronounced more like Gladius, when I want more like Gla-dee-us. Long EE sound.
My other option is, well, those apostrophes fantasy stories are infamous for.
Bai'deus / Bai'Deus
Bai'dius / Bai'Dius
But I'm not really liking how those look...

Baedeeus works best in my opinion. :0 Any of the ones that start with "Bai" makes me think of the word "Bye" or "Buy". And with the whole "-deus" at the end it just makes me think of the word, well, "Deus". =x; (IE, what most poker players call 2.)
"Bae" is a safe bet as there aren't a whole lot of other ways to pronounce that, it's the "Dee-us" part that gives you difficulty. I'd almost wanna throw a "Baediious" in there as another possible option.
And them last few options are too confusing. =x; Had I not know the annunciation ahead of time, I'd have spent a good deal of time figuring out how to say thems. >>;
Baideus
Because it has 2 recognizable words: bai (bay) and deus (Deus ex machina)
...as for the apostrophed names.... nuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
