There might not be any comic updates in August, and unlike before,
I can’t promise I’ll make them up later.

I’m moving to Japan for at least a year to participate as an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) in the JET Program. My flight leaves on Saturday, August 1st. For those of you too lazy to check out that link and read about it, my job will be to teach English to elementary and junior high school students.
It’s NOT a study abroad program; it’s a JOB.

Moving to Japan is going to be a huge change for me. I’ve visited many countries as a tourist before, but I’ve never been to Japan, and I’ve never had to live in a foreign country on my own. I’ll be having a lot of new experiences (culture shock woo) and meeting a lot of new people. Getting used to everything will take a lot of time and effort.

That means I probably won’t have time to update the comic in August. I love Slightly Damned, but it’s a hobby. When I was at school, school always came first. When I was working, work always came first. Same goes for this job.

But I am certainly not giving up on the comic!
I think I’ll be well-adjusted enough by September to start updating normally again. Heck, I might even be updating again sooner than that! It all depends on a lot of factors, like: how quickly will I adjust? How much free time will I have? Will I have to wait a month for my internet connection to be set-up in my apartment? And of course: oh my god I’m in Japan I should be out and about instead of sitting inside all the time.

The thing is, at this point, I really don’t know what’ll be like after I move. I could be updating again right away, or it could take a month to get back on track. The thing is, I just don’t want to have to have the comic weighing down on my mind when I go through this huge change in my life.

P.S. If you still want to buy anything from the Slightly Damned store (except Cafepress shirts), you MUST buy it this week! I'm not taking any of the merchandise with me, so if you don't get what you want now, then you won't be able to get it for at least an entire year. The only possible exception to this is Fanime Con. I won't be attending, but my friends volunteered to sell stuff for me.
