...About my dog's health.

You see, she's a 10 year old, housebroken. Suddenly, she's reverting to peeing all over the house, and it seems she can't help it. And I know she's not trying to be defiant or anything, because she cowers and runs away in shame. Just moments ago, she crouched right in front of my mother and started peeing. She felt really guilty and ran downstairs, no matter how much we try to coax her back upstairs lovingly.

I'm getting worried because I think it's a medical problem. {= ( If anyone has any information or experienced this phenomena before, please don't hesitate to comment or pm me. If you know someone who knows, pass it on.

Thanks kindly,
Doodzy

Wonchop Says:

It may be a leak of fluids or something, similar to what my dog has.
For the moment, you just need to be on guard for when your dog makes her 'i wanna go outside' face, cos you'll have a very short timespan to respond.

pur plec loud Says:

D: Unfortunately that's just what happens when dogs get old--mine does it too, and my friend's two old dogs before they passed away. Wonchop gave good advice--you just gotta be more vigilant. Also...they do make doggie diapers.

MegaGirlNT Says:

what kind of dog is it?

Mr Corrupt Says:

Eh hm... WEAK BLADDER, OR BLADDER INFECTION

Shanoshi Says:

Bladder infection, trauma, kidney failure... so many to pick from make a choice.

Though you should see a vet as soon as ASAP cause... she doesn't seem old enough to have a weak/failing bladder yet.

Merina Says:

I would say, go visit some type of animal-doctor.
Sometimes things like these can be solved with a diet. And if not i'm sure that person will give you good advice.

Torinaura Says:

It happened to our old dog Whisper. It looks like her bladder is failing. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do, though. :(

Nutamu Says:

The thing is with animals as with humans people can tell you 10 things it could be and it would end up the 11th untold. The best advice is to ask your vet.
You can research it on sites like vetinfo.com but in the end only a vet taking a look at your pet and possibly running tests will give you a true answer.

That said it could be a urinary infection (possibly with stones) or hormone issues

And yes older dogs do have issues with occasional leaks but there ARE things that can be done unlike what some have said here. In older dogs incontinence is usually a result of hormone deficiency and can be treated with hormone replacement, it's just that it can become costly and many don't bother when they can just get doggy diapers lol

But that kind usually happens when they are sleeping/resting and get up and you find a puddle were they were.

It kinda made me think of nervous urination but that's usually just in puppies not a 10 year old dog.

See the vet, it could be something quite serious and you wouldn't want to delay.

CloudyCloud Says:

take her to the vet and see what they say. that's all i can say.

Kwijiboenator Says:

Animals are very surprising in that we have a cat who's around 14 now (which is oooooold for a cat) and a couple of times over the past few years (usually around summer) he's looked like he's about ready to pass on, but he always pulls through.

It might just be a seasonal thing - does your dog seem to do well or badly during the summer months typically?
