Mood
Cheerful
I'm in a rather good mood, at the moment.
I've just had a Ribena-laced LemSip, 'cause I was coughing and such, and I feel rather mellowed. Hmmmm. Apparently there's a mind anti-anxiety compound in it? Well, anyway...

It's been a good week for gays, women, writers, and especially gay women writers, what with Carol Ann Duffy being named the first ever female poet laureate (in the three hundred plus years of the position's existence.)

It sounds kind of stupid, to get excited over a position that exists essentially so the royal family gets to have nice things written about them, but I'm rather chuffed, actually. If the most conservative members of society-- the monarchs-- are willing to accept people for their talents, regardless of any other factors, then I happen to think that's a pretty goddamn big step forward.

(That and she's Scottish, which seems to me to be the epitome of tolerance on the part of Her Maj. )

At any rate-- enjoy this fact, I sure as hell am.
There's hope for this country yet.

That being the first I've heard of that.

I feel ignorant now.

AH WELL, I spent the weekend in other people's beds, so that makes up for it.
