I want to make a children's book so badly.
I dream about it all the time.
I have ideas for how I want the illustrations to look, I've been toying more with the idea of a mixture of illustration types, the majority would be ink type drawings with perhaps some light washes for very subdued colors, with a variety of textures to give an aged/used look. Ink work I think is one of my strongest illustration points so I'd like to play upon that as much as possible. The illustrations will be filled with myriad little details that take time to appreciate fully. I loved illustrations like that as a child and still do. It will have fantastic Celtic knot borders and Celtic knots incorporated into the illustrations themselves as well. Maybe a sprinkling of more colorful illustrations as well. I want everything to appear aged and "old."
I know I could do this, the illustration and the design, I mean, the writing part that is my downfall. I know what I want the writing to be like. I want it to be charming with just the right amount of sentimentality, I want there to be a lesson, a moral. I want there to be magic. I know how I want it to be written but I don't know how to actually do it. That's the hang up!
Just mulling over things here. Don't mind my messy mind!

Very cool idea; you would be great at that.
I wish you the best of luck!
