I'm going to be blunt.
I am NOT giving up on
The Way of the Shadow Blade. But the more I reflect, the more I think it's going to be a long time before you see any more of it--perhaps even forever.
First...I am beginning to see even more of the flaws in the way I approached
Shadow Blade, compared to the way my
Star Trek fanfic novel is growing. It's going to take a much bigger revamp than what I've started, I think, to really make it work. I intend to see that through, even if it means I need to finish my fanfic all the way through first, just to know I can really write on such a scale successfully.
The other thing is this. It may turn out that this is not the venue for my work, once I start reposting. I need much better commentary than I'm getting--the kind that is helping my writing grow as I work on
The Thirteenth Order. I have lost pretty much all of my commenters who have been there from the beginning back in 2005 (with a VERY few exceptions--you know who you are). And I think perhaps there may be somewhere I can get what I am lacking here. Maybe it sounds greedy, but I don't care. The commentary helps me grow and keeps the story flowing. And I am missing that here.
Please understand--this is NOT an "I'm leaving" journal. I'm not--I still have a lot of people I like to watch here, so I won't be giving that up.
But I am going to more of my energy where there is payback and I am no longer going to allow myself to feel guilty about it.

Now Reading:
La guÃa esencial de la Biblia
Murder by Magic: An anthology of twenty short stories including magic and a murder mystery. Includes stories by Diane Duane, Debra Doyle, James MacDonald, and more! There's some good stuff in there...
(Only one more story pending...I'll be reading it someday now that I've finished the Mageworlds series.)
Sheezy Works--Clickable links to galleries!
Arbiter K: The Stranger, An Unlikely Exorcist
CafeCliche: Catalyst, Imperial Guard
Kay san: The Dark, Middle Ground
Lilac Wood: Too many to name!
*Sorry if I've forgotten any...also, this is for works with multiple installments only; poetry is not counted.
Galloglasses Says:
An understandable position.
Major Says:
I do understand your situation. Mind if I offer a few suggestions?
CafeCliche Says:
I can sympathize. Between the increasing number of changes I want to make to Catalyst and the fact that the current Imperial Guard chapter is one of the most difficult things I've ever written (tons of exposition and description, serious tone, and characters I haven't done a lot of work with yet? Talk about all my weaknesses rolled into one), I've been doing more hair-pulling than writing since the holidays.
I do fully intend to read Shadow Blade - I've been really intrigued by what I've read so far, but I have a bad habit of reading too many things at once. And besides, I want to give you intelligent comments, but haven't had a good time for that yet...
Good luck with everything, and I hope you decide to post here when you continue on.
Lindale Says:
I think that's perfectly fair and isn't greedy at all. It seems to me that sheezyart generally isn't the best place for writing - advertising rarely works, as I've said before the majority of the 'audience' is looking for something else, and writing in general doesn't get much of a chance compared to all the eye-catching images.

I do hope you continue to post here, but I know that if I was doing musical performances and getting the same sort of payback for my efforts then it wouldn't be doing me much good
