Gamers in general have become this way, on both sides of gender. I have been playing video games since around 1990. Playing video games used be something you got made fun of for. Especially if the video games were on the computer, since most processes hadn't been completely automated yet. By the time Playstation 2 came out, virtually EVERYBODY was playing video games.
I get tired of hearing girls that only play DDR or Guitar Hero talk about how they are gamers. Likewise, I get tired of hearing guys that only play Madden 09 or Halo 3 talk about how they are gamers.
