You know, for the longest time, I defended Sheezyart to people despite its many short-comings and counter intuitive features. I don't know if you guys agree with me or not, but it's alright to disagree, and I know that you can take it with kindness and an open mind.
But I'm starting to see that this place is not worth my time. It's really nothing better than a glorified playground for some immature people who think too highly of themselves. They couldn't make it on DA and so they found this little sandbox to lord over. I'm not hating on all of you guys, just those petty social climbers. They simply ruin everything.
I made a post in the forum about how the system of favorites here defeats the purpose of the fav, which is to support a work of art and give it more exposure. Currently, nobody can see favorites really...which is stupid.
And people were so rude about it, shouting in all CAPS and acting like they know everything and are always correct. They just started openly ranting about how I was supporting traffic whoring and what an awful and popularity whore I was. And this isn't the first time I've encountered this kind of poor character. I don't know, it just broke something...I can't continue to speak well of a community where that kind of hostility and incivility thrives.
I can't take these people who think it's avant-garde to keep art work hidden in corners. They just hate "popularity" because they know their work is too shoddy. Art is for sharing. It is for some kid halfway around the world to say, "hey, that's pretty cool. i want to draw something now." or "the colors bleed, i can help them with that."
And Sheezyart has really stopped being a friendly marketplace. People are rude, the site prevents exposure, and as a result, the quality of artwork here is extremely shitty because most everyone decent has left.
I hate this place and I can say it.

Decent people seem to be leaving, but I am seeing some people who left 2 years ago returning who had very good work. DA is over my head and beyond me. I am so used to Sheezy that when I go over there I get lost. I've found that most sites have people whining and complaining liek 2 year olds. If you just ignore it and turn a blind eye it doesn't bother me. I too see the same stuff over and over on the masterpiece section. It does bother me, but I'm not here to become the next Picasso.
If I had very proffesional art I would be at DA being recognized. I'm just a 20 year old...doodler. haha. And I stay here because there ARE a lot of friendly people. I have yet to make some buddies on DA and I've been there since January.

I understand what you mean completly. I think the people who dont want exposure for the favorites are people who know that they're art work isn't good enough to be one.
Plus I have hated this about sheezyart for the longest time, but it is mainly an anime art website. I have posted portraits that took me 2 hours to do on here and not got a single response but i posted an anime drawing in did on here that took me 17 minutes and I got tons of responses. I have always hated that about this website.
People are also just so rude, this guy was sending me rude comments on my page, and on my drawings so i went on his page, he didn't have a single drawing on his page, and he'd been a member for 3 years! Also on his page there were tons of comments from people saying he was rude and stuff so this guy doesnt just do it to me. What the hell are you doing on a art website, if you dont have nothing on it and just enjoy critizing people that is just mean.
My friend's screen name is " spongebobsquarepants" Someone who has never met my
friend sent her a comment saying " your not spongebob your just stupid" thats all he wrote.
This website has been making me mad for a while, but I stayed on it for my friends, i just dont know if its worth it anymore. . . . . .

Meh, all art communities suck, really. ._. They're all popularity contests and sometimes it matters more how many friends you have rather than how much talent you possess. Sometimes people who are "popular" actually do deserve it ... but every community site I am on, I see all this crappy generic stuff I see everywhere ... or things that look like someone only took 10 minutes or less to scribble out in crayon ... and 800 people will fav it and it will be on the frontpage ... it's ridiculous.

I think you're being awfully hard on Sheezy o.o;. I haven't run into the snobbiness here or at DA though I'm sure it exists somewhere. Generally I prefer it here for the features and the ability to customize your userpage. DA is taking a lot of adjustment for me
.. but I kinda like how they updated their features recently... which made it a little more like sheezy in how you view comments and artwork, etc (if only they'd get rid of the dark emo colors 
!.. I Love color!). You know.. I'm never been one of the good artists 
.. so maybe that's why the popularity thing and the rude people don't attack me or bother me *shrugs*. I just do my thing and since they don't feel threatened by it they leave me alone

Mostly in terms of people on art sites... I prefer my friends that I joined it with but sometimes you make new ones which is rad ^__^. The rude people... I think I tend to forget because I'm sure I must have run into some sometime O.o;.
A lot of good artists seem to run into the jerks. It comes with the territory and jealousy. Look at it that way and pat yourself on the back for being so good it drives people insane
