I got to attend the Rocky Mountain Furry Convention this year, but first con ever. Let me just say, cons are something ALL furs should do at least once in their lifetimes. They're so much fun! It's incredible; I'm particularly introverted until someone can get past my outer shell. I do NOT do well in a large group of people.

That being said, I found myself very social and outgoing when surrounded by furries! It's so strange... art gods and furs are still "people", and it's strangely easy to talk to others with whom you share something deep. Just be aware that not all furs are deep, caring people. I met a few pervs there, but the majority of furs were just fun-loving nerds and artists like us. There were precious few opportunities to play videogames due to the hotel's stupidity, but where there's a will, there's a Bunny and his Wii ready to jack a video projector for some guerrilla Smash Bros! There were roughly 350 furs at this year's con, meaning attendance is growing rapidly. I can't imagine what big cons like AC would be like. Meep!
Also... witnessing a fursuit parade is just awesome!

There are a few furry surveys being conducted on the fandom. I'm a big advocate of ANY kind of study, especially social or psychological, that can be conducted on us. What makes a furry tick, you know? Anyways, I would highly encourage any furs that read this to participate in some. Here's a link to a simple "census" type. Check it out:
