Wait, wait, wait...

TIME OUT.

Since when was NiGHTS' gender confirmed? NiGHTS is not genderless, nor does he/she have a gender.

NiGHTS can be BOTH or EITHER sex, okay?

The creator of NiGHTS, Takashi Iizuka-san, wanted NiGHTS to be either or so that we can use our imaginations and such... if anyone has any of that now days.
So that means if you see NiGHTS as a girl, then that's fine, for then she is a girl, but you MUST realize that in reality, she can be either or both... yet she appears to you as female. (and vice versa.)

Let me just make it clear once again...

NiGHTS HAS NO SET GENDER.
