Shungi: Am I drawing so bad?

I don't understand, why I am so unpopular. Just a few people watch me and most of them are friends I met in a forum or

something like that. I think they just added me to their watch list because its normal and funny to watch somebody you know.

But there are less people who watch me because they like my art. (Please, don't be mad with me about this! I am thankful to

every of my watchers, of course!)
But why there aren't more people like that?! I draw, and practise and become(sometimes) a bit better..... but no! Maybe

sometimes there is one artist who add me because he likes one of my pics but mostly my pictures were ignored. They are not

even commented! That sucks! And I don't understand it ! Am I realy drawing so bad?
And for example: One of my other Friends Lintaniabout hasn't submit a picture for months. But she is still popular! Okay, she is

drawing very good,I know, maybe better then me, but soooo much better? I don't know. I just know(and everyone who

knows me) I am often jealous of other people who are better then me. I have to accept this,I can't be the best always.

If you read that you will think"To be popular is not everything for an artist" . I think so ,too but you can't tell me that you

as an artist never wanted to be popular! It's a part of this Hobby I think . Arts without watchers is stupid .

If any of you has a meaning my art or about this should tell me and if anyone has tips how to become popular should

tell me ,too.

EDIT:::: OKAY; I THINK I GET ENOUGH COMMENTS NOW!!!!

Marina Blue Sky Says:

I AM just a new watcher, but I watched you for your art...

I think its fine.

And...I guess i'm useless, because I sadly can't think of anything that might help...

I'll do my best to, though.

Red Dire Says:

There's nothing wrong with the way you draw, and yet there is, its just you limit yourself to drawing only 'TLK' (which is altogether the reason I now hate Disney altogether (you cant draw a cartoon lion these days without SOMEONE linking it to TLK), but maybe thats just me,
The only advice I can honestly give you is try new styles or alter the one you have so its less generic.
I don't wanna sound mean I just mean to say you have loads of potential you're not using at the moment. Which you could!

I'm sure you have the talent to go far you just need to work on it.
Good luck with your art and I wish you the best.

MisunderstoodDreamer Says:

Hey,

Well to me, you're not bad at all, really.
I love your way of drawing AND colouring.
What I mean is, that its full of joy :)
And lovely colours!

Besides, You shouldnt worry about how many people
are watching what you do..
Its about having fun, in what you can do best.

I don't know you really well, but I hope you don't mind if I say something. I agree with Red Dire, your art has great potential, you just need to work on it. Don't get me wrong, it's great to see that people are inspired by the Disney style or another one for that matter, but branch out and find your own unique style. I sometimes wonder why my art is not more popular, but I don?t let it get to me, I have other motivations for drawing than popularity. I know I?m not the world greatest artist and that there are artist 10 times better than I am, but I'm fine with that. To make a long story short, what I?m trying to say is you are not the only one who feels this way, many artist do. Yes, you are a fairly good artist, but don?t stop there; Rome wasn?t built in a day! I don?t have any tips on how to be popular (except conforming). I hope I was somewhat helpful to you.

popularity ? good art.

DianaKitty Says:

Well, I'm not very popular, either. I see a lot of great artists who don't get the kind of attention I think they should. I don't know why you (and me ) and lots of other people I know, don't get more comments and watches. I think I'm an all around arist, err, commenter, or whatever. I like all kinds of art, I love seeing how everyone draws differently, with they're own style. It makes their pictures so unique and fun to look at! You draw your pictures with such a cute style, and you put so much color in them! I love your art, and I'm glad I came across your gallery.
But just remember, you should draw for you, because you like to draw. If you're always drawing for others, trying to conform to get their attention, you won't have fun drawing anymore. I know, I've been there. I've wanted people to like my art more, I wanted to be "popular". But you know, only my friends comment on my pictures anymore. I hardly get any new watchers. But I like that my friends comment cause they care (and hopefully like my pics, too ). I'd rather get meaningful comments than empty ones that are just plain and get me one fave, while the rest of my gallery goes unchecked.
Wow, my comment turned out to be as long as the rest! Hehe.... Anyways, to sum it up, have fun and be happy with what you draw! And be glad for the awesome friends and commenters you do have.
I'll go and add myself to your little watcher group..... *sneaks off*

taravocin Says:

Everyone one has the potential to do better. Whether it's you, me or anyone else who's still doing art, popular or not.
Disney's awesome with cartoons and stuff, people are easily inspired to draw because of Disney. But you WILL get your own style one day.
Hey! You also gotta notice that some people have average arts skills, BUT are really popular.

I don't have thousands of people watching me either, both DeviantART and SheezyART. And most of the watchers are already um... Dead. xD! Still, "slow and steady, wins the race". I'm still developing art skills myself. I admit that I still can't shade properly, draw anatomy-wise and I rush my artworks most of the time.
Keep drawing your own stuff, some fanarts if you want to.
Experimentate with different styles, look at some other people's work for inspiration. Don't only look and say "omg. this person's better than me at (this or that). D:"
Observe your surroundings more, you'll discover more ways to improve your style.
Have fun!

And more importantly, don't keep worrying about "why aren't other people watching me? D:!!!"
Believe me, just as long as you do your stuff, you won't even notice how your watch list got huge as you develop though the months and years. I don't bother with these things actually. I don't mind if I'm unpopular. I don't mind if I was popular. It doesn't make a difference on who I am inside. As long as you think your art is awesome and better than anyone elses, you'll be fine.
But don't go too far with that. You'll regret it. And yes, I've been there.

Remember! Keep smiling and doing your stuff! Don't let 'popularity contests' bring you down!

pizzacats Says:

Well, although it is nice to have people comment on your art and watch you, just keep one thing in mind: keep it real!

What I'm saying is, you'll be much more satisfied in your art and yourself as a person if you draw simply because you like drawing!

I've been on Sheezy for a hell of a long time. There are times when I am unpopular and don't get a lot of comments (like right now), and there are times when I am popular and get a frontpage, or comments every few minutes (mostly when I immerse myself in the Sheezy community - or before this new rating system came into play, lol).

Here are a few tips for putting yourself out to the community, if popularity is your goal:
1. Be patient. Popularity doesn't happen overnight! Unless you draw a really good Naruto fanart and then everybody faves it. But nobody wants to be popular for drawing Naruto fanart.
2. Don't care what people think. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't take people's advice. If someone is offering you good advice, for heaven's sake, take it! I'm just saying that it seems to me like when I draw because I love drawing, or because I have this great idea in my head that I want to put down on paper, or because I'm drawing something for somebody I love, or anything like that, people like it more. It seems that when I don't care if people like my art or not, they end up really liking it!
3. Join clubs. This also means submit your art to clubs! Think about what you draw most. I draw a lot of music-related things and a lot of pin-up girls. Because of this, I joined the Ska Club and the Nipples Club (as well as the UnderExposed Club - but this club is reserved for people who are trying to sell their art, not who simply want more watchers and pageviews). Every time I draw something that has to do with ska music, I submit it to that club. Every time I draw a naked girl (lol), I submit it to that club. And I submit everything I make that I think is quality to the UnderExposed club, so people will get a good idea of what art I am trying to sell. For you, I'd suggest a Lion King or maybe just feline club to submit your art to. Bottom line: clubs are your friends, and get your art to a wide variety of people you'd never dream of!!!! Just make sure your preview crop is always good! Lol.
4. Comment on other people's art. This doesn't mean saying something like "cool" on a piece that took the artist hours to complete. Pick out what you like most about a piece of art. Write a few sentences about that thing you like, and maybe even include something the artist could have done a little better (unless, of course, they don't want any critique on their art). If an artist sees that you left a well-thought comment (much like this one!!! haha), they will be more likely to visit your page and take a gander at your art. Now, this doesn't mean that they will watch you - if someone who you don't know doesn't care for your art in the first place, they probably won't watch you. However, if someone who normally wouldn't look at your page happens to look at it and really likes your art, they'll give you a watch! Simple, yes? Lol. (Also note that this tip is one I have the hardest time following. It's difficult for me to comment on things! I'm just lazy~)
5. Remember that quality beats quantity. As of me typing this comment, I have 466 watchers on Sheezyart and 351 on dA. It sounds like a lot, doesn't it? In reality, here on Sheezy I have just a solid group of around twenty who always comment on my art. I'm sure a great many more (I hope) look at my work each day who watch me, but only 15 - 20 people actually comment on most of my pieces. This number is even less on dA. Personally, I'd rather have a small group of faithful watchers who actually look at my art frequently and comment on it than a large group who just added me for no reason!!
6. Broaden your horizons. Don't confuse this with letting your artistic integrity slip and becoming something you're not! Experiment with styles, and develop your own. I'll be the first to admit that I've copied every popular style under the sun (well, one or two). I loved the attitude and boundlessness of Jamie Hewlett's (the man who draws the art for the Gorillaz) style. I loved the flow and proportion and correct-ish anatomy of the Disney style - which is exactly opposite of Jamie Hewlett's incredibly cartoonish drawing. I also loved the simplicity of Kurt Halsey Frederiksen's little doodles. Anime was a big influence when I started to draw, and I liked how polished the characters looked. Then I realized I could combine elements from other styles along with some elements in my head and come up with my own style, which ended up finally settling on how I draw now - people with the Gorillaz attitude (as well as their upturned, Fafi-esque noses!), decent (if a bit anime-like) anatomy that I can still over-exaggerate if I feel the need, the flow and rich colours of Disney art, and big, soulful eyes, which were my own idea of how proper cartoon eyes should be drawn. Don't get me wrong - sometimes I look at people's styles and say, "Wow. I really want to draw like that." or perhaps "I want to draw my eyes like that!" But when I draw my characters in that style, or with those eyes, they seem unhappy to me. It's because I know I've developed my style into something I am truly comfortable in. I know it can be difficult to have a unique style for drawing fursonas or other animal-typed things, but don't fear! Just try out a bunch of different ones and do what feels right. You have loads of potential, and you're a very talented person - you take time on your art, which I like. Just experiment and don't be afraid to try something new.

Well, I think that's pretty much it for now. If you need any more help with anything, simply drop me a PM or a comment sometime! Also, as a little jumpstart, I'll go ahead and give you a watch and submit this comment as writing with your Sheezy link - I'd like to see how your art improves.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

pseudoin Says:

You draw nothing but Disney crap.
Also, bad idea that you're complaining.
You lack originality.
Branch out in different subjects of art.
Do take critique, even if it means having to swallow 'This sucks!' because it IS a form of critique, and no matter what your opinion on their crit is, most likely they don't give a shit, so just suck it up.
Pick out the flaws in your own artwork. Compare them to people that you KNOW are proportionately correct and so on and so forth.
Don't seem to desperate.

That's all I've got.
