7 Reasons the 21st Century is Making Us Miserable
I would post it on the forums, but as this applies to most teenyboppers on SA, they just wouldn't get it. So I am sharing it with you, my (obviously) very discerning and tasteful watchers (j/k)
Here's a few little quips.
"
Say goodbye to the tedious, awkward, painful process of dealing with somebody who's truly different from me."
"Half of what sucks about not having close friends has nothing to do with missing birthday parties or not having a second person to play basketball with. No, what sucks is the lack of real criticism. "
"...how did we wind up with a more negative view of the world than our parents? Or grandparents? Back then people didn't live as long, babies died more often, diseases were more common."
Now...discuss...
N a t s u o Says:
No really.
I know what all of this is getting at.
Now-a-days, I see no one outside with their friends riding bikes, jump-roping, writing on sidewalks with chalk, and being home before the street lights turn on.
Instead, I see kids vandalizing walls with spray paint, carrying around pocket knifes, smoking on street corners, and shooting each other with pellet guns and shit.
What ever happened to being able to go around with your friends and have fun?
What ever happened to getting grounded and having to sit inside in evenings, and when your friends come to the door, they're chased away by your parents?
I feel bad for today's children, because they're gonna grow up the wrong way.
There's so much more I can say.
xD
But my fingers are so numb from being cold that I really don't wanna type.

Wow... never thought of it that way

It's because the parents are trying to protect us from as much crap as possible. Not letting us see the worst of things and only give us the best of the best. So if anything goes wrong we complain about it because we've nothing better to do.

Well looking at this really quickly....I am 16 year old and I know everything around me and I frankly don't give a damn, the world is the world and life is life. I was born is it so i can look at negitve things only postive things, I live in a city that has shooting in it everynite, I don't give a damn. Sorry i just don't understand it.
Kodfish Says:
dang... never really thought about it like that... but really, I ought to talk with some of my friends about this whole thing... hmm, interesting.

Its been researched that TV and the internet can make people who weren't born autistic. I think in this day and age people just don't really want to deal with people in person and so when they have to it doesn't turn out right.
lilmimichan Says:
D| Little children are spoiled and talked too as punishment since spanking them will scar them. D: OH NOES!
If I ever have kids, they are going to have to earn and work for it. Dx I don't want to let them end up like my little cousin who is spoiled rotten.

I think the guys overreacting a bit to much, but we do have to face the facts: as our world becomes more and more dependable on technology, the more anti social people start to get.
The sad thing about this is that as times goes by most children don't get the chance to choose anymore and are automaticly born in this kind of world. Eventually the amount of people who'd rather live a more simple life will thin out. There's always going to be that group of people who try to live on the border of both sides I do suppose, but the tought of life becoming more social again is only slipping away more.
I admit to myself not living how I want to. I've become indepented on technology and the only way I'll ever go back is if nature takes it away from me. Still, I work at a store where I meet my share of annoying people more then enough as well as friendly people, stupid people, demanding people, shy people, and so on. Despite my need of technology I find myself to be a social person.
The world changes constantly, so do people. In the end, it all comes down to self control.
Unfortunately, we'll always have those big guys on top changing our lives, forcing sometimes, and there's nothing we can do about it, or little.

Great article. I could nitpick little things here and there, but the overall message is grand. Thank you for sharing.

well here..since I am in the country..and not in a city. I hear and see alot of kids outside. I guess I am at one of the few communities that does things the old fashioned way. I know though what you mean. When I did live on my own...I saw very few teens out. It is sad they don't want to take a walk...or go bike riding unless you were like me when that was my transportation in the city. My brother was one of those people that was mentally weird...he threw things..and made his life out of a few rap songs he heard...though he listened to country some...he never listens to the lyrics..and doesn't understand. It kept getting worse..for the past few days...and now..he is in a place where bad kids are kept...so he won't be returning to my parents since he broke all the rules he said he wouldn't break. Think also why he was feisty alot other than wanting attention and acting like a terrorist to us was because he loved seeing people fight. I dunno why..but he hardly does this to anyone else but me and my parents. He takes meds and such and he is only 13. it's sad..he could have stayed if only he learned how to control himself.
