So, I am poor.
I was talking to

today about being poor and how I was considering opening commissions. I really don't feel like I'm good enough to do this, especially because it'll suck in ten years have someone selling my stuff on ebay or alternately, waving it around everywhere laughing at it, so I'm a little wary of selling my art before I'm totally confident in it. For instance, I used to do greeting cards and bookmarks in
elementary school in my evil stepfather's shop. This one time a little old lady had me sign it and waved it at me.
"One day," she said, "when you're a famous artist, this will be worth a lot of money!"
If that thing shows up online one day, oh boy is my career over.
ANYWAY
So my plan was basically that I'd be open to commissions "if someone asks," because that has happened like, never, but I wouldn't advertise until I was confident.
I got home about AN HOUR after this conversation to a commission request in my DA inbox.
hur hur karma o_o
So the person wants a "medium to large" project, and all I know so far is that:
a: it's fanart
b: three girls, hentai scenes
I want more details, and I want to talk to my professors (primarily Rob) but woah. I hope it's nothing too bad, because it might be fun. Who knows.
So, er, anyway, I guess I'm open to commissions kinda? I usually state my rules as "no furries, no porn, no furry porn" and everything else case-by-case.
This is weird!!

^I used to get that EVERY SINGLE DAMN TIME I ate out at a restaurant with paper placemats or whatever they're called that I'd always doodle on out of boredom. >_> Waitresses, especially old ones, seem to think that every 13 year old who shows any sign of skill are going to be the next Van Gogh or something, and always wanna keep them and have you sign them. ...nowadays I take them with me when I leave, heh.
I'm open for commissions too. I recently put up my commission info, because I got sick of being poor, though I forget if I put it on dA or not. I suck and I don't even have Photoshop and I can't paint worth anything, but I've already got an offer, and the commission is almost completed and ready to be mailed out, so yay. I think a lot of artists aren't completely satisfied with their art.
Really, don't be embarrassed to sell your artwork. Sure, it'll be better in the future, but the people that wanna buy it now don't care. There are plenty of artists out there and they chose yours. Why? Because they like how you did a picture. In a sense, they're buying your style more than anything else. And you're actually serious about your artwork...there are way too many people who get commissions when they have no skill whatsoever. But you actually can say you know what you're doing to some extent...so if people wanna buy it, go for it, I say.
If people want porn or furries you should tell them to contact me, as I have no shame and almost nothing bothers me.
