"Fred Jones Pt. 2" - Ben Folds

*is extremely frustrated and upset*
My mother gets her haircuts at an Aveda slon not too far from where we live.
She get's the same employee each time, a woman named April.
Today my mom had a haircut appointment, so she went and when she got him we went out to lunch.
While eating she tells me this story about April;

"Poor thing, she's one of the sweetest girls I've ever met and she's going through so much.
Three years ago her best friend died in a car accident and April was the one driving.
They were heading home from dinner and her friend was too tired to drive so she asked April to do the honors.
Now here's where the problem comes in; April was driving her brother's car and he had an illegal tired lift installed into the car.
Reason it's not legal is it causes cars to become unbalanced.
So they're driving down the freeway and it comes to an angle, the car flips over and her best friend gets thrown out the window and dies.
But even though it wasn't April's fault, even though her brother is the one who installed the illegal piece on the car, she is being convicted of Vehicular Manslaughter."

I'm still in shock.
What the hell is wrong with this legal system?!
How can we do this to someone?!
And it's not just her, this kind of crap happens all the time!
People in jail who should be in mental care, innocent people on death row!
I know people tell me things like;

"Well other countries are worse."

You know what, fuck you.
I'm sick of hearing that, absolutely fucking sick of it.
This is SUPPOSED to be the United States of America.
What this country was founded on, what we're supposed to be, what I want us to be is not *points up* that!
This isn't every other country, we don't go suicide bombing, we don't plant car bombs, we don't shoot you for your opinion (although our fellow citizens and people outside the USA might, because most people can't handle realism), we don't destroy our own people in mass quantities, we don't dictate, we don't control every little step our citizens take.

I want to fix this country, I want to do something about this.
I'm tired of sitting here and whining about how corrupt this country is instead of doing something.
I don't want to be like those people from outside of this country who bitch about it or like my fellow citizens who whine and then continue to sit around.
Just, ugh!
Fucking world!
April is twenty-three years old and has never committed any sort of crime.
Now she might spend seven+ years in jail for something that was purely an accident.
Guess what else?!
THE BROTHER WHO INSTALLED THE ILLEGAL PIECE OF EQUIPMENT IN THE CAR
HE ISN'T BEING CHARGED
*AT ALL*
It's not just this country, it's this world.
Every country is corrupt as hell and as much as I'll be laughed at for it.
As much as people know how much I dislike this country.
I'll be the first to say;
"We're one of the few that isn't as badly corrupted."
