rubber ducky: frontpage bitching.

I'm just going to be really simple about this. Without naming names, I think it is ridiculous that every scribble a certain artist does gets frontpaged, but I have been mostly quiet about it until now. However, the fact that a WALLPAPER made by this person gets frontpaged + a million comments, simply because it is by this person and is of a popular anime, strikes me as not only absolutely ridiculous but insulting to a lot of artists on this site who really do put time, effort, and originality in their works. And I'm not even implying myself.

Does anyone agree with me?

Generally the Yes/No system cuts down on this sort of thing, but you can never underestimate the power of FANBRATS.

I do agree with you.

I know there's art that I've put a lot of thought into, work into, but I'm not popular. Other artists are the same way.

But since it's not Naruto or whatever, most artists are left in the dark while fanbrats, to use Zeemort's term, get the spotlight.

Wallpaper should NOT GO ON THE FRONT PAGE. It shouldn't even GET a vote. I'm sorry, the person did NOT draw the images. And if they did? It should be a regular submission.

I just noticed the wallpaper you were talking about. DeathNote. I don't know anything about the anime. But did you notice the creator is part of the SheezyCast? Many SheezyCast members are insanely popular. Maybe people want to score brownie points. It's a great wallpaper, but damn.

I think its complete and total crap that submissions like that get so much attention just because of who the artist is. And I checked, yeah, its rude to say but the artist isn't talented and she gets so much attention just because of fanart.
Its stupid, and I'm tired of this whole death note craze as well... most of the time I notice the art featured on the front page IS fanart.. never something original someone put some real thought into.

And personally, if you did not initially crate the piece you shouldn't be taking/getting credit for it, wallpapers included. Besides, wallpapers are just flat and stoic versions of fan-made music videos anyways and fan-made music videos have already been put into sharables. Put the wallpapers into sharables already, 'kay mods?

Give us original artists a fighting chance against the fan-artists, for once.

Its a neverending cycle of the inevitable. We have mindless drones who are either obsessed with the simple subject matter, or feel that being "nice" with these yes's will get them attention.

i don't usually do fanart. i come up with my own characters, and yes, sometimes it does annoy me
