DAMN thats a long time for me to be without the net...
Okay. I really need to exercise more control over my addiction to the interweb. Facts are most of my social life is conducted over these tubes, and it's going to get to me over the next few weeks
I'm in the historic city of Derby now. I now live approximately five minutes away from the city center and I have only just signed up to the library. Always a good source of free internet connection, but the need to sort out pressing things like electricity and water and council tax (what the hell is council tax? Did I pay that at Uni?) took priority over keeping on the net.
My new job (which starts on Monday) lies under the stadium. Literally - Pride Park Stadium is elevated slightly above the adjoining business parks I'll be working in, probably to stop the executives working in those buildings sneaking in on match days and watching the match from outside. It's also on the OTHER side of the city to where I live. Looks like I'm going to be using the bus until I pass my CBT.
Not found a decent RPG store yet either. The Forbidden Planet stocks a very small selection of RPG books, and possibly more pre-owned copies of Final Fantasy VII than anywhere else in Derby (which is saying something. Its like Square dumped every European version of thier FF PS1 games in Derby and they leaked out from there. Every game shop seems to have at least two copies of every Final Fantasy game in the preowned section)
And not done any Flash or Drawing work either. This is bad, and will be corrected before I start work next Monday.

Council tax is what you pay to your local authority to finance refuse collection, LEAs, local emergency services, general health and safety, libraries and other civil services.

Students are exempt from paying it. If you lived in university-sub-let accommodation you won't have come into contact with it before now. My girlfriend lives in private accommodation and she had to run a form past the university to get them to verify her student status so that she wouldn't have to pay.
Unfortunately, now that you're gainfully employed you can't wriggle out of it. But hey, at least you look to be getting your money's worth. Derby's not that bad by Midlands' standards. ...You could be living in Stoke.

At least you've got settled down and ready for the scary world of work eh?
