My stupid mouth - John Mayer

My apologies for being semi-inactive on my gallery here. I've been working hard on my web comic and commissions, and the holidays are not making things easy as well either

I noticed since my abscense that there were a couple of changes regarding the whole frontpage pick image thing. For some unknown reason, this new yes/no thing scares the willies out of me. This is my own two cents though, and I can not exactly explain why I dislike this other than the fact that it displays a certain ammount of numbers. I'm strange like that

So I will do the next best thing possible on this that has been passed down to me by my good friend GrefTek. His wise words are: Just /ignore!

I should start writing a page full with friends-ism, because quoting your best buddies is just so much fun! Oh well, I still appriciate all the hard work that the Sheezy Administrators and Coders do for the community It takes mistakes to learn from them and make things better.

Don't like the rating thingy either, I find it somewhat unnecessary and even slightly annoying. Don't get why they had to add it <<; But I'm going to ignore it.

cHE mu Says:

They tried to make people happy by getting rid of the Masterpiece system, since everyone only seemed to complain about it. The Yes/No system isn't much better, I don't think.. It's hurtful to see someone choose "No". :'D

Anyhow, it's great to see you're back!
I missed your pretty art~

I don't like the fact that I feel like my art, that I put time and effort into, really feels like its being judged now. I didn't mind the masterpiece system before, I was never trying to get frontpage in the first place. But, I'll learn to ignore it I guess.

OleanderVyce Says:

I really dislike the yes/no system... I don't think it's fair to give people the opportunity to judge artwork like that. I don't know--I still think we should just revert back to the old fav system. It sucked, as it does on dA, but it's the better of the two evils IMO.

And a webcomic, eh? Sounds like fun. Are you online yet or is the comic still in the works?

Rhythm Wily Says:

I like the Yes,no as compared to the old system. If you feel something is undeserved you have the power to take it down a point.

engle Says:

Webcomic? Do link.

taiyaki Says:

The yes/no thing makes things very black and white and art simply isn't like that. Even the black and white images have shades of gray in the meaning behind them. Having a yes/no makes things very plain and simple.

Art isn't like that.

One cannot trust numbers to give accurate readings in art. What makes a splotch of paint on a slip of canvas worth millions, while a beautiful oil painting of the death of a knight held in his damsel's arms worth 25-cents at a yard sale on a Saturday morning? It's all in the person.

So don't fear the yes/no. Just ignore it unless someone tells you WHY they chose yes or no. Even then, it's not everything.

If you feel something is undeserved, don't click 'no'. Just tell them. Tell them -why-. Don't just leave it to "check yes or no" when asking someone out.
