Okay, Im REALLY not trying to be a L33tist right now but ok people. Kids at this age try to define themselves at this age fine, if thats what you want to do then fine. But you can be into multiple things without having to sacrifice who u really are. And its kind of pissing me off how some kids follow others so freeeking easily.
Like kids at my school for example. They all claim to be Anarchy loving, classic rock listeing to, skateboarding, guitar playing unconformists. Well guess what, YOU FOLLOW EVERYONE ELSE LIKE A MINDLESS DRONE SO YOU ARE THE BIGGEST CONFORMIST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, im not going to mention any names but if you really want to define yourself as a hippie then get it right. Just because you like spending time outside DOENT MEAN YOUR A HIPPIE.
If you want to call yourself a hippie, think if your really a peace loving person who spends time outside, who is probably inspired by music from the 1960's 70s and 80s, who is very liberal and unconformist and occasionally might like to freeking party. So, if you find yourself wondering the origins of the hippie culture, or why they have long hair, or ever find yourself wondering "Who are the Grateful Dead?" or "Who is Jerry Garcia, Butch Trucks, Warren Haynes, Greg Allman, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh or etc.?" or even "Who are the Allman Brothers?" Then please try not to define yourself as a hippie.
Also, Im not a hippie myself. Im just saying 2 things.
1:Think before you try and define yourself as a hippie
2: Think before you try and define yourself as one thing period.

Wow, that sound REEAAAALLLY L33Tist but I had to get it off of my chest.

Well, I can tell your angry hippie rant was about me. I didn't call myself a hippie just because I was spending time outside....because I never go outside. I was calling myself a hippie because I peace, were a family of huge liberals, and I'm not an uncomformist (I know you may challenge me on that one, but I was made fun of as a grade schooler vicously and your conformist anarcy friends hate me for likeing anime to this day, so I do have a moderate backing to that claim). Plus, mom was a hippie and we went to clean up the Hudson and I've been begging the family to go back every year.

Also, the hippie lifestyle was founded on the music, and isn't essential to the lifestyle. It was founded in order to protest the war in Vietnam. The peace part of being a hippie is more important then the music.

Finnally, I called myself a hippie in passing. While I may not be a full fledged hippie, I'm damn near close enough to call myself one on a whim to lighten a joke that could have been deemed a tad offensive. So you don't have to completley overreact like that to a little thing I said. If you pick out every itty bitty thing somebody says on the internet, you really just look like you're trying to be mean to somebody.

The hippie lifestyle *wasn't found on the music

That's been pissing me off for a long time now...
Kids will always talk about how they're being "non-conformists", and listening to classic rock instead of rap... but I haven't seen anyone who listens to rap recently. Everyone has now become a "non-conformist" unlike the imaginary "everyone else" who.. doesn't listen to classic rock.

Then... the anarchy...
There have been times when I would come up with... slightly "anarchist" like ideas.
The difference, though, was that I would at least have a reason and a purpose, instead of my purpose being... "just to fuck things up".

You can't be a "non-conforming anarchist" if everyone else is a "non conforming anarchist". Then, you're a mindless follower who feels the need to destroy due to an inability or a belief in an inability to create, or simply destroys to promote self image in a "non-conforming anarchist" world.

The worst part, though...
The part that pissed me off the most...
Was that in the beginning of this school year, the "non-conforming anarchists", which make up the majority of the kids that I know, were suddenly "emo haters".
I thought back to the previous year, in which the very same kids had been striving to make themselves appear "emo" themselves, by turning themselves into that very sterotype.

This year, anyone who actually thinks, has an opinion outside of their angst filled, "no one can understand me" mindset, or ever has any display of emotion at all, for anything, which isn't accompanied by a lot of angst, of course, ... they label "emo".

LaughingWarlock *Never said that.

Shino Says:

Yeah. . .

You know I agree with you. I remember that time in church, when we were talking about the afterlife, and everyone was all, "Oh, I'm cool and Atheist, I don't believe in one." Lawl.

That just screamed poser. But anyway, if you have social classifications, you have tag-alongs. The "reals" don't like 'em, and the "tag-alongs" in turn pass on the hate. And I realize I may seem kind of elitist, but meh.

Oh, and for the record, I've never liked classic rock. Ska is where it's at.
