I'm taking an intaglio course this semester and am having a blast with it, This project we learned the process of aquatint (which ironically, has nothing to do with water). We were able to make whatever subject matter we wanted, as long as the two plates correlated with each other. They could tell a story, be related, or whatever. This is mine.
The idea of my project sprung from just a night and day. I was originally playing around with good and evil too, but decided that it WAS more about Night and Day. What kind of animals would represent it? I chose a lion and a wolf, since lions, to me represent the sun. I don't know why, they just seem to. Wolves represent darkness to me, and night. Then I thought, well, what if the lion contrasted with the sun? What would happen if I made the lion DARK instead, and the Wolf LIGHT. I liked the personal twist I had created. I admit, I heavily thought of Jasanni and her boy, Belanus in this project.
Then it became clear- as clear as night and day.
The edition on this is only 3, though I have some extra prints that I may sell or give as gifts. One of these (probably a handcolored one) will indeed make it to Anthrocon 2007.
