Job sites rock.

If you're ever unemployed and looking for a job, these things are exceptionally easy to use. So easy, in fact, that I managed to send off about thirty applications for various jobs arround the UK that I'm either qualified or can blag my qualifications for.

Turns about about seven of them are for the same job, or for similar positions within the same company. made me chuckle as I've been waiting on an application there for about four months now.

Can't fall through the system now though, as I recieved an entrance test from one of the applications to make a set of very, very, very low polygon models. We're talking less polygons than the original Tomb Raider game. Hell, we're talking less polygons than Little Big Adventure.

I've shown some people on my list these models already, and they've either guessed who I'm applying to work for or have worked it out themselves. I'm not sure whether I'm under non-disclosure or not, so I'm not going to mention who the company is, but I will say that they run a very successful (and often slated) free online RPG.

The specification was to make the following models with a defined number of triangles and NO textures, bumps, alphas or neato touches other than solid colours.
- Throne (500 Triangles). Not your stereotypical king's throne though, something a bit unorthodox. Something that a non-human may use, perhaps?
- Weapon (200 Triangles). Not a sword or an axe. Something a bit different
- Treasure Chest (500 Triangles). Must have an opened and a closed state.
- Swamp Plant (500 Polygons)

I think I've done a fairly good job of it. I've forwarded all the pictures onto the agency handling this one, but I felt like making a nice presentation image out of the entire thing to show off, since I've not shown off any artwork for a long, long time.

Those are awesome, especially the Venus Mantrap!
Good luck! Hope you get the job!

Catleen Says:

Ha, I was sitting in a 3D class and the prof came out behind me and complimented your work. Kidos for you!

I think it's amazing though, I'm such a poly spammer it's nuts. >_< The tomb has to be my fav though, it looks exactly how it should without being over simplified....I guess that goes for everything though. Nice job!

dfBlaze Says:

That's pretty good! Is this for that game you said you were worried about the polygon numbers? (500<

They look pretty good, the shading and all, the throne () is my favorite I wish i had half your talent. Kudos for you.

gofthick Says:

I remember when you showed me these before, looking good.

Gotta say, i'm a bit of a poly lover myself, but only because low poly work requires talent ;D

Rubbercookie Says:

Awesome work!
You said lo-poly, but I wasn't expecting descent-low poly models.
Got to say though, you pulled off some cool models using the few triangles you used.
Especially cool, I think, are the three faces you made, (sarcofagus head, skulls, bear pelt) wich look good in spite of their poly-count.

I'm guessing whoever hired you are making something not too dissimilar to runescape.

The poly-budget thing. Can you guide me how to find/get and use it in 3D Studio?
