Cue City Backdrop

Back around the North Edge twice
Down three roads and turn
Take a left and screw the rest
What are they to you?

Sit down here and let%u2019s talk
Nobody can hear us
Down there in the maze of chaos
With their lights dashing around the night
Slipping into a dream
The roars in the distance are

Nothing more than a faint hum around here

While they slither and hiss at one another
With the cold walls of their labyrinth looming above them
We have the rolling dusk to ourselves
Unspoiled by the venomous bite of those lost in the maze
The gentle peaks and furrows
Of the silent enigma lie around lazily
Against the sleepy sky

Foreword: Art sites seem to hate my indentations. You can see the original formatted text here

Truthfully inspired by some car-related things from the three Mini-Mercs on my desk (Black 1/61 scale E-55AMG, Silver 1/60 scale SLR Mclaren, Metallic Grey 1/59 scale CLK Coupe) to a "truffle race" on Top Gear (the "Car-hating Switzerland" joke had me rolling on the floor laughing, t'is a good 'un) and big shiny black Spyker C8 Laviolettes that look nice on Gran Turismo 4 and ever better in real life.

Notes
The idea behind this experimental poem is contrast. The aggressive sound of the first stanza with the (hopefully) gentle others, the noisy city with the quiet hillside and hopefully everyone noted that the city was compared to a maze and the cars compared to snakes. The structure's been fiddled around with for fun, maybe bring on pauses in weird places and such. It can't hurt to try something new after all. Unlike my other poems/songs this isn't pre-meditated, just improvised.
