This one is for

's contest on DA (Ladre on DA).
Man, this one was just one problem after another. I first tried to draw something with Ladre's character, but that didn't come out so well, so I scrapped it. So I decided to use my own character and some random character. Drawing was the easy part (save for perspective). CGing it wasn't. The main problem is that my computer is old and slow. Scanning an entire 8x11 paper at 300 dpi in Photoshop takes a beating on my computer. Doing the main coloring was pretty much fine for the most part.
Then I lost my tablet pen. I knew it was somewhere in my room, but it didn't help that I had to work and my good friend was moving back to Canada (I'll miss you, man). Well, I obviously found it and tried to complete it yesterday. But I forgot my computer can't use the Smudge tool without practically locking up my computer until it was done calculating the stuff for the tool. I pretty much had to abandon that tool (it's hard, considering I used it a lot when it comes to clouds).
But after all that angst, I'm pretty happy how it came out. Okay, except for that transition between the two worlds, but I think it's fine for now.
Although this may look like some fantasy thing, the theme I was intentionally going for was "wonder." I wanted these characters to look up and wonder if there's anything else in life that can make their lives more exciting. Thus their bored looks.
Yeah, too much talking. I'll shut up now so you can enjoy the picture.

Very amazing! I love the detail in the backgrounds, very cool! The transition between the two worlds is really not that bad as you think. There's not many people I know that can do that sort of thing so great job on it.
I wish you luck on the contest and I wouldn't say too much talking. An explination gives a wider view of the image. I do it to my work all the time, it's like giving a behind the scenes commentry to help people understand what you were aiming for.
Great job once again!

Wooow! X3 Awesome. It's a beautiful concept, actually. I've been thinking about doing something like this, any tips? XP
