I had the idea to tweak the story of Tantalus from Greek mythology. In that tale, Tantalus killed his son Pelops and fed him to the gods. They punished him by making him spend eternity sitting in a river with a fruit-laden branch above his head. Every time he reached for the fruit, the branch would move up out of his reach. And every time he tried to drink the water, it would lower away from his lips. That's where the word "tantalize" comes from. Anyway, I had the image of Elvis Presley in Tantalus' place. And there were cheeseburgers growing on the branch!
