I was watching the trailer for Smash Bros Brawl the other day, and this silly scene came to mind. Because, at some level, we've all wanted a floating, soul-sucking jellyfish for a pet. I was about due for my annual Metroid fanart, and it's been ages since I uploaded anything so here you go.
Colored in OC3, with color tweaks in photoshop, worked on it on and off for a couple of days. Enviroments are the bane of my existence, everything would just be much simpler if we all lived in a monochromatic void. Incidentally, you're all free to smack me upside my fool ass head if I attempt to paint something translucent ever again.
While working on this I found it impossible to find any decent ref for the glowing glyph thing on her breast, but now as I'm uploading it I find that they've uploaded some very nice and clear images of her on the website, and it's not even close to what I ended up painting. Shucks.

very nice, but you made Samus' lips too big, my advice is to size them down a little
