Recycled Crap

I'm sick of recycled crap, you call "expression"
Express to me other things then your so called "depression"

I don't want your life story
Your "shut ups " or "whatevers"
Use the critique and hope to get better

I don't want to see your arms
With Safety pins through them
Baby don't bother with a disclaimer
I'm definetly not going to use them

Let's write about something other then death
Because you're obviously still breathing
You haven't gotten there yet

You're getting ahead of yourself with this suicide game
Whats that old quote?
Oh yeah, " Go Down the Lane? "

I don't understand how your life is so bad
Oh, You're not understood by mommy and dad?
Get off your ass, It's your time to converse!
Because your recycled drama has become so rehearsed.

Now here's a challenge, It's not that hard
Write a poem without blood, suicide or scars.
For once in your life, try Originality
Nothing you've written so far is, in all actuality

I'm wondering if you havent gotten the help you need yet
Well I found a handy little site
Called "TherapistLocator.net"

Disclaimer: Um..so yeah. THIS POEM ISN'T ABOUT ANYONE INPARTICULAR JUST MY DESPERATE CRY FOR SOMETHING NEW....from now on when I write poetry, I am going to draw some inspiration from true poets like Emily Dickenson or Edgar Allen Poe and try to follow their patterns and couplets. I think, it's time for some originality Be sad, Be Depressed..whatever..but don't limit yourself to JUST THAT. I may not be Ms. Sunshine all the time, But I am aware life doesnt have to be so depressing

Not bad, but the rhythm is sort of, uhh... not there.

Minstrel Ayreon Says:

I agree...there is more to life than depression, and it's sad how teenage culture venerates being miserable for some reason, and if you dare to critique the ones that aren't good (occasionally there IS a good, dark work), it's like you dropped an H-bomb or something. Darkness has its time and season, but that time is not ALL the time. Sometimes a story must have moments of darkness, and sometimes one needs catharsis over something that happened, but just because it's dark doesn't mean it has a context or that it's even worth being shared. Some are, some aren't.

I would prefer that instead of being patted on the head for their behavior, that people who really ARE that disturbed would be encouraged to seek help. Instead, it becomes a path to instant faves. And that's one thing that bugs me just as badly as the razor-blade pics and suicide-glorifying poems. It's the rubbernecking, ambulance-chasing commenters and favers who ENCOURAGE the destructive behavior and act like it's OK. That's like seeing someone who wants to jump off a bridge, and yelling, "DO IT! DO IT!" That has been known to happen. And this is part of where that attitude starts, if you ask me.

I've seen great art that is more than JUST darkness represented here. I mean, some is dark, like Drakhenliche's excellent dragon pics, but clearly full of talent. But it's not that often that I see literature that's worth its salt featured. It takes time and effort to read, and I think some just don't want to expend the energy, so they go for the quick and obvious BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD HATE HATE HATE stuff.

Front paged, congrats, MAYBE SHE'LL SEE IT!
