A ninja is a Ninja... They are assassins, they are spies, there is a difference between the way of the ninja, and the way of a samurai... To believe you can live the life of a shinobi unscathed is a fool's dream.

. Iruka's a mysterious character. Stronger than one will give him credit for. He had done 12 A-class missions (a rank that jounins are known to only take)... was considered one of Sandaime's most trusted ninjas... Attending jounin ranked meetings (such as the nomination meeting for the chuunin exam)... yet to many, he's considred a mild-mannered and open-hearted chuunin teacher.
I wondered why was Iruka still a Chuunin when he could easily (in my opinion) become a Jounin... even more. Then I got reminded of Iruka's flaws. As mentioned before, he's quite open-hearted... not to mention quite emotional and overly opinionated... not exactly qualities one expects of an assassin.
So my mind came up with a scene... Perhaps durring one Iruka's earliest kills... I could just see him crying over his enemies. That would explain why Iruka looks so young here... Perhaps it was durring his first years as a Chuunin so he may be 15 or 16 years old.
*huggles* poor Iruka... always subjected to angst of all kinds!

(Besides my love-by-no-vounds for lil' Iruka, and the fact that I want to kidnap you and make you draw him all day...) Fantastic pencil work as always, and fantastic expression! I LOVE the fact that you had him take off his forehead protector. The vest seems a little on the small side.
He is a really mysterious character. I'm still giddy at how he barely shows up anymore, but he still has a really strong fanbase.
