Anyway.... watercolor on Canson sketchpad paper, the 90 gsm type. Scanner failed to capture some pigments, especially the flesh on the back of the girl (hence the white area there). Argh.
My modern version of an old Greek tale. Pygmalion was a man who hated women (maybe he was spurned by a lot of them, in tagalog, Laging basted siguro), but the irony of it all was that he spent most of his time making sculptures of them. His most precious creation was Galatea... she (errr... "it") was so beautiful that none on Earth could match her (it).
Poor bloke was so in love with his creation that in the end, that pity befell the goddess Aphrodite and she gave the statue life, and Pygmalion and Galatea lived happily ever after... yadda yadda..

Oh, awesome! I love the soft colors and composition...such an interesting take on one of my favorite stories! Really excellent use of watercolor.

You should submit this to the Greek Mythology Club.
