This peice is approximately 5 inches long by 3 high. I love this little guy he's so cute! *snuggles* This character has a unique and pleasing pose. Its been sculpted to lay on its side, its posture being a reaction to the phoenix that rests on its front arm.
The phoenix was given small light-brown glass eyes for realism. The gryphon itself was sculpted with one eye open (a yellow glass eye added) and one eye closed in front of the phoenix. I finished with a protective Matte coating to protect the paint. Areas such as the beak, pads and eye area were coated with a glaze to add shine. The phoenix was given a glaze to its beak and eye area as well as toes.

Wow this is just amazing really. You have wonderful scuplting skills, not to mention painting skills. I really like the pose and the close attention you paid to all the detail. Great job!

Oh, that IS a gorgeous pose! I'm surprised the gryphon is male, though. You got both the looks of a mother cat (in the way it's rolled over) and a mother bird (with a little one under the wing) somehow in the same creature! I know the phoenix isn't its offspring, but still!
