The Pond

This is a picture featuring a few lotus flowers and a frog, but also a small ladybug, all residing in a dark, but yet vivid pond. They enjoy life, and have nothing to worry about, or even be concerned over, as life in the pond simply goes by, without any kind of problems...

Anyway, this picture is inspired by the tranquility most poeple feel when being close to any kind of water collection in the outdoors. Water has a magnificent ability to simply soothe people, get rid of some of the stress one is experiencing. It is my hopes that this picture is able to do that, at least to some extent.

I think lotus flowers are really amazing flowers, fascinating, soft, beautiful; and I certainly see why they are so highly praised in Asian culture. Their appearance just makes one feel that there are so many things to be happy about in this world, that not every trouble is a serious one that one cannot solve.
The frog is an old Asian symbol for good luck, something I wish everyone who view this deviation and think about it, to experience during their lives. Luck is not an essential part of life, but it is very much appreciated, something I think most of you can agree with ;D

I had some problems with the composition to begin with, but I hope that I solved it with the stems going across.

I really loved drawing the lotus flowers and pads; it was like they came to life under my touch; such a reviving feeling!

I had some troubles with the reflections, so in the end, I decided to solve it the quick and easy way, which is not always to prefer.

My signature is pretty large, but I hope that it is as neutral as I hoped it would be.

"Nothing is as serene as water. Human beings have thought so for thousands of years, being fascinated by this element which is so hard for us to grasp. It can be dangerous, but also soothing to the extreme. We cannot hold it in our hands, we cannot master or tame it. The frog is an ancient symbol of luck, something most people would agree upon that they like. A life without luck, what is that? Is that a fair life, just living without luck, without happiness? The frog's large, smooth eyes are carefully watching everyone who pass by the pond... Never blinking, never flinching. It simply watch as time pass by.
The soothing and beautiful appearance of the lotus flowers, with their pink and happy colors, simply adds to the serene feeling one gets from the water. How come that these flowers have mastered the element we can not? It is something magical about them, just that we do not know what. All we know is that it is very, very beautiful..."
