This is my half of an art trade with ~Shiaine. It is her phoenix character, Aquila, who represent the element of water.
In this picture, he is found gazing out over the sea, his true home.
~Shiaine gave me pretty free hands in terms of drawing her character, so I went wild, at least in terms of phoenix-ness. I have always thought that phoenixes are small and gentle creatures, gracile, right out from a fairytale. That is why I made this phoenix be a little more sparrow-like than most phoenixes out there are.
I became very attached to this character, and I think that this picture is one of my favourite pictures this far! It is at least one of the most detailed works I have done in a very, very long time.

That's really gorgeous. I love the detail of the feathers and how the whole thing just has a calm feel to it. I have a thing for phoenix re-colors, anyway. They don't just have to be red and yellow.

Great attention to details in the feathers. The ocean ripples seem to surface out of flat strokes though, maybe if you'd elongate some shadowstrokes to the back of them it would help making the rolling waves get a little more volume. Other than that, great piece, definatly worth a printout
