...I'll protect you
This is the final one, I promise. Okay, I seriously want to know what people think, because this is the absolute first background I've ever drawn for a picture, and I really wanted it to be nice. And yeah, those are supposed to be trees...
Again, if you don't know, this is my OC Kiana after her younger sister Niobe died. Inside the crystal/gem thing is Niobe's soul. Everything will eventually be explained in my novel I'm writing for NaNoWriMo, titled "After the Night". Anyways, again, please let me know what you think.

i think this is really good. the trees should have just a little more definition, perhaps? but this is coming from someone who doesn't do backgrounds either!
i really like the picture, though. it's got a lot of feeling in it. and that little crystal thingy is really cute.

Least you finish up your backgrounds. I go halfway after gruelling hours of finishing my pieces, and end up slapping a grey/white gradient.
Anyways, the background is quite good, though it being that bit darker would be preferred to bring out the character more, since it is slightly hard to separate the 2 things. Not to say that the current setup is bad. Its quite good, nice detail and shading. Just slightly darker thats all.

Then the colors go together so well! I'd love to see some more of your colored pictures! Yet again, I can't really help you with any pointers in coloring because I usually don't color my things, but what it looks like to me its very nice ^^
