"Cause Celebre"

Poster design for Cause Celebre, the play set in the 1930s, written by Terence Rattigan.

The play is based on the real story of Alma Rattenbury, who in 1935 was accused of murdering her husband, thirty years her senior, and George Wood, her eighteen year old lover, who was found guilty of the crime.

Black and red - very art deco colours and I tried to ape designs by Cassandre from the period.
