I did this back in April/May but I don't believe I submited this here....and I have no way to check because clicking on the link to my gallery returns an error each time I try. I can see that becoming problematic...
ANYHOO!
This is Kirito, vocalist in the jrock band Pierrot. He was dressed (or undressed depending on your perspective) as such in an issue of Fool's Mate, although i took some artistic liberties. The piece was done as one of my assignments last year for my "poetry and painting" class. For the record, I am no poet, the class was just the lesser of many evils.
This was done with pastel pencils on the weird brown paper in the sketchbook i had to buy for the class. Funny thing: I only have 12 colors, but was only able to use 6 of those for this because I forgot to rubberband the tin shut and the other 6 took a vacation in the bottom of my bookbag. That would explain the color weirdness, which I actually sort of like in a strange way. This is NOT photorealism in any way, but then again, the shadows were similar colors in the original and the contrast was insane. It was kind of nice breaking from my usual portrait style.
