The End Surreal To Start; Parts 1 & 2

The End Surreal To Start

Part 1:

The cats are in the kitchen,
Flags flying through the air,
Birds all fly above me,
Parrots perching on my chair.

The Demons are not demons,
And are these angels good?
Always, now, it seems,
All is not what it should.

My bridges now are burning,
I haven\'t reached the other side,
Listen, Oh, Kind Lady,
Hold your torch up high.

Sing me to the Ocean,
Peeling back a tide,
Leaking out of Silence,
The World has been denied.

Listen to the wind,
And let that World inside,
Play me Tick-Tack-Toe,
Then, go run and hide.

Part 2:

Water, water..........
Trickling down,
Dirt on my foot,
The sun is my crown.

Help me, help you,
What do you see?
From Silkworms to Eagles,
We live in a tree.

Broad Chest,
Sharks\' teeth,
Toothless,
Black wreath.

Red Ribbon,
Red Bow,
The dogs are free......
So, let them go!

Lions live,
And manatees die,
Calm yourself, little one,
Please don\'t cry.

When I see your tears,
The sadness, I feel.
You are alive.
Am I real?

But, why am I here?
What could I possibly be?
Is what\'s possible for you,
Possibly probable for me?

Clouds and Smoke,
Just, let me go!
I gather information,
Yet, still I don\'t know.

What is my purpose?
Why am I here?
I don\'t care what you say!
I will hunt the deer!

Hopeless, Helpless,
Is that me?
Turn on your light,
That I may see.

My pockets......
Full of silence,
Someone.........
Stop the violence.

Rain, rain,
Drip, drop, drop,
Solo................
Yet, the fires burn up top.

Find the key!
Set me free!
Won\'t you all just let me be!
Don\'t leave me to misery!
A problem is, just, what I be!

This Poem has 2 parts, which I iclude them together for a reason.

The 1st part has a more calm flow to the structure.
The 2nd part is more pf a quicker pace, and the rythum goes through changes.

The begining starts out as just a bunch of thoughts, then, the 2nd is more of a panick and realization.

Even tho' the majority of the poem is like a question, it says things indirectly. It reflects much of my mentality of the time when I wrote it, and yet is even valid today.

I wrote this in 1996. It's actually something I came up with in my English class. The teacher I had, told us she wanted us to start some creative writings, and mensioned poetry... on the spot, I made it up on the back of anonther homework paper. That was the 1st part.

Then, in gym, I came up with the last part and jotted that down on the bus. When I went home, I reworked the poems, and put them together.

Then, I showed my teacher. But, she told me I couldn't submit that for the poem assignmenets since it was already made, and I'd still need to make something else anyways... then, we never even did poetry at all....

So, i've had this thing in my journal for all those years, along with other poems.

When I was in Vo-TAG, an Elite Gruop at BCIT, we got the ability to make our own works. So, a groups of my friends and I got together and self published our poems. I also had my art in the book. The rest of the girls all put poetry in the book. So, I felt odd adding my poems at 1st, ebcause mine are all rythmick, and ryme... and theirs wasn't... but, after they read them, they insisted on my keeping them in the book, dispite my almost removing them altogether.

When the girls were edditing them togther, they actually memorized this poem, and would walk arround chanting it... that, and thier teacher, whom aproached me to tell me how much she liked it.... she wasn't supposed to know about it being that I was only a "visual artist/ Environmentalist"....

Maybe, writing poems in Rymes isn't "cool" unless you are a rapper. Well, Sorry... I'm not a rapper. And, I don't care what color my skin is.
BUt, these poems are something special.
I guess I just took for granted that I could do this kind of thing. I never put any value into it.... but even my visual art also began this way.
Yet, even tho' these are not the pertty unryming poems, they are still scented with a cleverness.
And, when I show these to people, the reaction I get is usually a good one.

Shadowwolf Says:

Oh, I really like this! All my poems are in rhyme too, and I really like poems that have a rhythm to them. This sound like it should be a song Eeh. *makes up a tune for it and recites it to herself* <_< >_>
