To get away from drawing too many baby animals, I have decided to do some wildlife art. Since it has already been proven that I suck at realism, I have decided to go for just drawing them in my style. I'm kind of planning a portfolio of New Zealand birds from different habitats. This is the first - I'm not sure what it was that inspired me to draw a pukeko, but I just really felt like drawing something for myself with long, gangly legs, big feet and silly flicking tail. This was actually surprisingly easy. Next I'm planning on doing a fantail.
Yes, the blank circle will be filled - I was going to google for "swamps", then it occured to me that I really should do some sketches from life, so I'll go visit a swamp sometime next week. Yay for swamps!
With any luck I'll be able to get these guys on greeting cards or something and sell 'em. I wonder if I could print them on t-shirts? Do you think they might sell? I mean, it's colouring pencils, but the amount of layers I apply makes the colours pretty darn intense.
My hand hurts.

Is that a real bird? I love wading birds and this one looks like one! He is beauiful! I love how you colored him!
