SSCVN Jet Silo

SSCVN. Well I kind of invented that acronym. In US naval terms, SS, CV, and N stands for submarine, carrier, and nuclear respectively. The idea of a submarine aircraft carrier is nothing new. Some of the earlier subs carry seaplanes for scouting. The Japanese took it to a new level in WW2 when it built a small fleet of huge submarine carriers for strike purpose. In particular the plan was to use them to bomb Panama Canal out of usefulness, though it never happened. The concept is recently revived when Skunk Work works to convert missile submarines to carry UCAVs (unmanned combat air vehicles) in their missile tubes. They'll be able to launch and retrieve UCAVs while submerged, though I've no idea how they're going to do the later. So the concept of launching manned aircrafts from submarine carrier silos isn't as crazy as most think.
