Something clicked when I worked on the 'I Still Love You' heart picture . . . all those forgotten shading and depth lessons from high school, 1987-91, came rushing back to me. Still happily sentimental after the heart picture did its desired real life effects (oulala!) I decided to draw more of the same, with myself as a 'Daddy Dragon'.

It very quickly dawned upon me, though, that the happy studly central character happened to look a lot more like my character Jak'edrac sel'Gury than Pauly the Anthro-Dragon.

'But wait!', I thought to myself. (not out loud! P)'In the final draft of the first novel of a sequence I'm working on, Jak'edrac is a recent father-to-BE, for his mate-for-life Jul'eweisa still has about 85 years or so for the first egg to be laid (hatching two weeks after a super-long internal gestation).

So I had a quick brainstorm, and wound up aging Jak'edrac slightly, about 450 years from the events in the first novel (when he got that nasty chest wound that nearly killed him, and healed up angrily). Now I have a scene ready for the FIFTH novel. I am only finishing the final draft of the first novel, and have only ventured slightly into the second novel . . .

Special thanks to Ajder Andrei, Liiga Smilshkalne and Rachel Donahue (Elfwood artists who are as addicted to Elftown as I am! LOL) for wonderful constructive criticism and feedback.

By the way, that brick-lined structure is a landing pad for human shuttles and other small, vertically-landing spacecraft. My 'Doyle Dragon' families can be very playful when the humans aren't around. Females, outnumbered five to one by the males and considerably less decorated, are actually the dominant gender in all 'Doyle Dragon' subspecies. No surprise, then, that Jul'eweisa gets the perch. Jak'edrac is totally, positively wrapped around Jul'eweisa's finger. Lucky guy. The other males are so jealous of him . . .

Thanks! Although I have gotten somewhat better, it is still definitely one of my personal favorites. Yep, I asmit to being a sentimental sap sometimes :3
