Trailing Darkness

I'm the only one around
in this darkened forest,
devoid of light
devoid of life.


So alone, calling to the winds
while travelling faster
raging away from the night
into fluorescent heaven.


Guide me home,
make it worth my while
even as you burn my eyes,
I know you're my guide.


Those shadows desired to destroy
wrap themselves around me
snuggle and strangle
feeding on ignorance.

But yet, I still miss their companionship
in this maze of glitz.
Their simplicity, stunning
their demands, easy to fulfill


But this solitary soul
is forever bound to his shadows
knowing that within them
is where I always belonged.
