At Night in the City

at night in the city
when stars are poured
over a deep blue canvas
above the heads of
those that sleep

in a city
where lights
are scattered over the towering
buildings that loom over
passerby
who in turn
gaze up in awe
to the many watchful
eyes of giants

amongst the various titans
a tyrant watches
perched upon his throne
high above those that
walk the streets at night
wondering if anyone
of those persons
would cause trouble
in his territory
